Description
Chandi is a D-Type Hunter, a bio-engineered being created through genetic modification by Professor Umezaki. Initially encountered near India's Ajanta Caves, a local guide mistook her for a divine figure, resulting in her nickname referencing Chandi, an aspect of the goddess Pārvatī. This name connects to Indian cave guardian legends; lacking a formal birth name, she may have originally borne a serial number.

She possesses distinctive light green hair styled in a ponytail secured by a purple holder, with wing-like bangs framing her forehead. Her dark skin contrasts with golden-orange, often expressionless eyes, contributing to a stoic demeanor. A crystalline implant on her forehead enables her Limpid Channel telepathic abilities; this crystal flashes during telepathic use and allows technological interfacing for combat. She wears a form-fitting suit, sometimes augmented with armor including a helmet partially concealing her face while leaving her ponytail exposed.

Functionally a guardian, Chandi frequently operates alongside a lizard companion sharing her eye color. Her role expands significantly years later during the global crisis depicted in *Hakaiou: GaoGaiGar vs Betterman*. Facing electromagnetic disruptions and biomechanical "Ruin Apostles," she maintains a telepathic link with Keita Aono via her forehead crystal, guiding him through widespread chaos. She critically intervenes to rescue the unborn child of Kaede and Shou, ensuring the infant's survival amidst planetary-scale conflict, reinforcing her association with preservation and rebirth.

Chandi exhibits transformation capabilities like other bio-engineered beings in her universe, though without size alteration. Her D-Type Hunter designation implies specialized combat proficiency against biological horrors and other threats. Despite her engineered origins, she acts autonomously with a sense of duty, often adopting a protective stance toward humans and their future. Her character arc culminates in symbolic acts of salvation, aligning with her namesake's mythological role as a divine protector.
