Description
Sanae Takigawa, Michi Sonoda's childhood friend and former junior high judo teammate, crucially convinces Michi not to abandon judo after their final middle school tournament. She invites Michi to continue the sport together in high school, countering Michi's initial aim for a conventional high school life. This intervention directly sparks the revival of Aoba Nishi High School's judo club alongside Michi and Towa Hiura.

Academically gifted and ranking among her class's top students, Sanae faces personal tension by joining the judo club—breaking a promise to her parents to focus solely on academics. Michi supports her through this uncertainty. Visually impaired, Sanae adapts to competing in judo matches without her glasses as an inherent challenge of her participation.

Characterized by excessive worry compared to Michi's boisterous nature, Sanae sustains a supportive role within the team. Her interactions frequently emphasize a cautious demeanor, contrasting Michi's energetic approach. She remains a consistent presence across the team's competitive journey.
