Description
Mirai Nazukari is a first-year high school student who becomes involved with the local idol group Nagarekawa Girls as a substitute for the town's mascot character, Uogokoro-kun. She attends the same school as the other main characters and is a member of the drama club, which is how she is connected to Yui Mikoze, the original performer of Uogokoro-kun. Mirai is brought in after the mascot's popularity surges following a televised athletics event, as a way to lighten Yui's workload. She makes her debut in the seventh episode of the anime series.

By nature, Mirai is extremely shy and reserved, especially when interacting with people she does not know well. At first, her timidity presents a challenge for the others, particularly Nanako Usami, who finds it difficult to communicate with her. Despite her shyness, Mirai is a dedicated and hardworking individual who gives her full effort to any task she undertakes. She is also academically gifted, consistently achieving the highest grades in her class. Her ability to commit herself completely to her responsibilities helps her succeed in her role as the substitute mascot, even though she initially struggles with social anxiety.

Mirai's primary motivation is to fulfill her duties reliably, supporting the group by stepping in for Yui when needed. She does not seek personal fame or recognition; instead, she is content to contribute behind the scenes. Over time, her interactions with the other members of Nagarekawa Girls help her gradually become more comfortable around them, though her reserved personality remains a defining trait. Her relationship with Yui is a key connection, as they share a background in the drama club, which likely facilitates her willingness to take on the mascot role.

In the story, Mirai serves as a supporting character who fills an important practical role, allowing the main idol unit to continue their activities without overburdening Yui. Her presence also adds a quiet, earnest dynamic to the group. Her notable abilities include her academic excellence and her capacity to perform as Uogokoro-kun with dedication, despite her shyness. She appears in the television series as a supporting character and takes on a more prominent role in the original video animation episodes.
