Description
Professor Ursula, born Chariot du Nord, is a French witch and Luna Nova Magical Academy alumna. From childhood, her natural magical talent was evident, driven by a dream to become a witch who brought smiles. However, her initial passion often outstripped her skill, resulting in early mishaps. At Luna Nova, she befriended the academically brilliant Croix Meridies, though their contrasting magical approaches—Chariot's intuition versus Croix's methodical study—complicated their relationship. Seeking the power of the stars at the Fountain of Polaris, Chariot was deemed unworthy. This spurred her to dedicated study, ultimately earning her the title of Moonlit Witch and the powerful Shiny Rod (Claiomh Solais), an artifact linked to the Seven Words of Arcturus. Guided by the spirit Woodward, she awakened six of the Words.

Adopting the stage name Shiny Chariot, she achieved global fame as a magical performer, using spectacular displays—conjuring butterflies, generating fireworks, and transforming her body with dazzling wings—to inspire joy and wonder. Conservative magical factions criticized her for trivializing magic. A decade before the series, her friend Croix developed Dream Fuel Spirit, an experimental magic converting dreams into energy that inadvertently drained the audience's latent magical abilities. Unaware of the consequences, Chariot used it during a performance, creating a breathtaking show that inspired young witches like Akko Kagari and Diana Cavendish while stealing their magic. Discovering the truth, Chariot immediately stopped using Dream Fuel Spirit, fracturing her bond with Croix. Her final performance ended disastrously when audience pressure pushed her to unleash the Shiny Arc, scarring the moon's surface, leaving the crowd unconscious and amnesiac. The Shiny Rod vanished, prompting Chariot to abandon her identity and career.

Assuming the alias Ursula Callistis, she returned to Luna Nova as an astronomy teacher. She magically disguised her distinctive red hair as dark blue and wore light-obscuring glasses to conceal her past. As Ursula, she presented a calm, patient, and nurturing demeanor, differing from stricter colleagues like Anne Finnelan, who criticized her perceived lack of decorum and leniency towards students. Her teaching emphasized practical application and creativity over rote memorization. She first encountered Akko during the dungeon examination, secretly aiding her against a dragon. Recognizing Akko as the Shiny Rod's new wielder, Ursula became her personal mentor, guiding her to rediscover the Seven Words. She provided Akko with foundational resources, defended her against detractors, and subtly supported her growth while concealing their shared history.

In Blytonbury, Ursula supervised Akko, Lotte, and Sucy's parade assignment. When a reawakened Titan threatened the event, she used her showmanship to calm the crowd, directing the students to neutralize the creature. She later reprimanded the mayor for his role in the incident. Throughout the series, Ursula carried the burden of guilt over her past actions, especially their impact on Akko's magical development. This intensified when Croix returned to Luna Nova, scheming to exploit the Shiny Rod and the Grand Triskellion's power. Ursula intervened to protect Akko from Croix's manipulations, publicly unmasking herself as Shiny Chariot during a confrontation. She later disclosed the full truth about the Dream Fuel Spirit incident to Akko, accepting responsibility.

Ursula possesses extensive magical abilities, specializing in the Magic of Stars and astrology. As Shiny Chariot, she performed high-energy transformations, projections, and large-scale illusions. Even as Ursula, she retained formidable skills like barrier creation, object levitation, and spirit communication. She also demonstrated exceptional physical prowess, executing acrobatics and surviving high-impact falls. After losing the Shiny Rod, exposure to Wagandea pollen prevented her from flying broomsticks, though she remained adept at non-verbal spellcasting. Following her identity's revelation, she ceased disguising her hair, embracing her dual legacy as both Chariot and Ursula. She continues teaching at Luna Nova, committed to guiding Akko and restoring magic as a force for wonder and connection.
