Description
Hiro Hiyorimi, a middle school boy, moves to Sasanaki Village seeking his sister Sawawa Hiyorimi. Discovering her mansion seemingly abandoned, he dies saving a mysterious girl from a fatal accident—struck by a vehicle in the manga or crushed by falling steel beams in the anime. This girl, the royal princess Hime, resurrects him using her blood (or "Flame of Life" in the anime), binding him as her half-immortal Blood Warrior. His regeneration ties his existence to her royal blood, requiring periodic replenishment.

Initially clumsy, anxious, and physically weak, Hiro is often viewed as the "weakest." He exhibits extreme passivity, obeying school bullies or figures like the vampire Reiri Kamura, whose manipulation triggers his temporary vampiric transformation. Despite this, he consistently shows kindness and selflessness, rescuing a puppy from traffic or defending Reiri against hostile vampires while outnumbered. His loyalty to Hime evolves from reluctant servitude to genuine devotion, driving him to repeatedly shield her at the cost of his life.

His combat abilities start as limited. As a Blood Warrior, his rapid regeneration primarily serves as Hime’s "meat shield." When Hime’s life is endangered, his body transforms: his hair turns white (silver in later arcs), his eyes shift to yellow with slitted pupils, and he gains heightened courage, strength, and tactical knowledge. This form is manga-exclusive. Later, Hime elevates him to a Flame Warrior. He gains the ability to emit sacred flames like the royal family, no longer depends on Hime’s blood for survival, and his body radiates noticeable heat. This form weakens in water-heavy environments and cannot activate when fully submerged. In an alternate future timeline, Hiro achieves significant combat prowess independent of royal blood, deflecting advanced bio-weapons effortlessly.

His relationships drive his development. With Hime, he harbors unrequited romantic feelings; her reciprocation remains ambiguous. She treats him coldly, often neglecting his blood needs, yet relies on him as her primary protector. His bond with sister Sawawa is protective; he frequently tries to shield her from supernatural dangers. He shares a brotherly dynamic with the half-werewolf Riza Wildman, who often drags him into high-speed vehicle rides despite his aversion. While Riza shows possible romantic interest and jealousy toward Reiri, Hiro remains oblivious. Reiri Kamura, initially using him to access Hime’s blood, later becomes a close friend and develops feelings. Other characters, like the android Flandre (whom he holds no grudge against despite her causing his first death) and Princess Sherwood (who openly crushes on him), highlight his role as an emotional anchor.

Hiro’s character arc shows substantial growth. Early on, he is a timid "Butt-Monkey," but repeated life-threatening scenarios harden his resolve. He evolves into a determined guardian, willing to defy Hime’s orders for her safety. Key development occurs in the manga’s later chapters and sequel, *Princess Resurrection Nightmare*. As a Flame Warrior, he actively shapes battles. In a future timeline, he defies death to rescue Hime across time, showcasing strategic ingenuity and combat skill surpassing his earlier dependence. This culminates in a promise to protect Hime regardless of mortal limitations, marking his transition from reactive servant to proactive hero.
