Volt Luster operated as the Haos attribute brawler for the antagonistic Vexos during the New Vestroia invasion. He possessed fair skin, spiky reddish-orange hair, and striking purple eyes. His signature attire included a black form-fitting undersuit with visible torso and upper leg detailing, white knee-high boots accented in gold, and a distinctive long light-blue coat featuring gold fur trim and orange shoulder pads with white trim. On a mission to Earth, he disguised himself as a Chinese villager, wearing a traditional conical straw hat, a dark teal robe over a grey under-layer, and a grey belt.
Despite his imposing physique and Vexos affiliation, Volt upheld a strong personal code of honor. He respected opponents, refusing to battle those who were fatigued, such as declining to fight Dan Kuso after Dan's match against Spectra Phantom, deeming it dishonorable. He prioritized fair fights, avoiding the underhanded tactics common among his teammates. Volt deeply cared for his former Guardian Bakugan, Haos Mega Brontes, reacting with fury upon witnessing Brontes' forced evolution into Alto Brontes and apparent loss of sentience under Gus Grav's control, a stark contrast to Brontes' own disrespectful nature. He also expressed love for his family, referencing a happy past with siblings.
Initially tasked with capturing Bakugan and opposing the Bakugan Battle Brawlers Resistance, Volt frequently partnered with Lync Volan. Their early confrontation with Dan Kuso and Mira Fermin ended in defeat and the loss of his Haos Freezer. Subsequent battles included a tournament finals loss in Alpha City against Shun Kazami and Ace Grit, resulting in a Dimension Controller's destruction. Volt later defeated Marucho Marukura, taking him hostage, and battled Baron Leltoy in Gamma City. Though he won the first round, he ultimately lost the match, acknowledging Baron's skill and permitting him to proceed.
Volt's loyalty to the Vexos fractured over ethical conflicts. He objected to the Bakugan Termination System and was horrified by the even more extreme Alternative Weapon System designed to annihilate Earth and Vestal. Deeming this plan "pure evil" and excessively cruel to innocents, Volt defected despite the risk. He returned to his ruined Vestal hometown, encountering an admiring child. There, Prince Hydron confronted him under orders to eliminate traitors. During their brawl, Volt utilized his new Mechanical Guardian Bakugan, Haos Boriates, activating its unique Custom Battle Ability. This enhancement granted Boriates near invulnerability, nullified opponent abilities, and prevented ball form reversion, enabling Volt to decisively defeat Hydron and Dryoid. Volt intentionally missed a final attack meant to crush Hydron, issuing a warning. Hydron retaliated with a Death Bomb, sucking Volt into another dimension. Before disappearing, Volt declared Hydron would face consequences.
After his apparent demise, Volt was mentioned by Hydron and Lync Volan. He appeared alongside Lync in Hydron's dream sequence, urging him to overthrow King Zenoheld. Hydron referenced both Volt and Lync again moments before the Alternative Weapon System's destruction.
Volt's known Bakugan partners included Haos Verias, Haos Freezer (lost to Dan), Haos Mega Brontes (replaced after Mylene Farrow discarded organic Bakugan), and Haos Boriates (mechanical replacement). His Bakugan Traps were Haos Dynamo and Haos Hexstar. Boriates possessed abilities like Prometheus Cannon and Odin Shield, plus the Gauntlet-activated Custom Battle Ability, and could fuse with Dynamo to form Battle Arm Boriates.
His brawling record showed mixed results: losses against Dan/Mira (with Lync), Shun/Ace (with Lync), Baron, Gus Grav, and Shun/Baron; victories against Marucho and Hydron; and a win against Shun/Baron alongside Mylene under the Vexos Trap Field influence.
