Tetsurō Daiba is a young survivor of a catastrophic meteor impact that ravaged Earth, an event claiming his parents and leaving him among the planet's few known human survivors. This profound trauma defines his origin. Following the disaster, a mysterious woman named Mello emerges to him from a blinding light. He later awakens under observation in a spaceship infirmary. Displaying uncanny aptitude, he seizes a fighter spacecraft without prior piloting experience. Instinctively, he operates the craft with professional skill, an ability later traced to unlocked DNA memory granting latent knowledge and capabilities.

His significance to opposing forces emerges upon encountering Rei Yuuki, another meteor survivor. Both possess unexplained powers coveted by the occupying Trader Force regime. Together, they seek a third survivor, ultimately revealed as a telepathic cat. Discovering this cat connects them to their shared origin as meteor survivors and their unique abilities.

The regime's ruler, Queen Photon, captures Tetsurō and Rei. Queen Photon declares her forces aim to save Earth from those responsible for the meteor, casting doubt on Mello's intentions. During imprisonment, the telepathic cat enables their escape from the Queen's sealed chamber. Mello intervenes to clarify the conflict, presenting Tetsurō with a pivotal choice: remain on an Earth incapable of sustaining his advanced race or venture into space seeking a new future. This decision marks his evolution from a trauma-scarred survivor to an individual facing his people's destiny.
