Description
Prince Hope Grand Kanata is the crown prince of the Hope Kingdom, known for his gentle, kind, and courageous nature. In his youth, he met a young Haruka Haruno while she was being bullied for her dream of becoming a princess. He encouraged her to hold fast to her ambitions and gifted her a Dress Up Key, an object that would later carry great importance.
When the Hope Kingdom came under assault from the witch Dyspear and her organization Dys Dark, Kanata moved to defend the kingdom’s dreams. He charged the fairy siblings Pafu and Aroma with delivering the Princess Perfumes and seeking out the Pretty Cure warriors. Remaining behind to guard the remaining Dress Up Keys, he was ultimately driven from the palace as Dys Dark seized control. Forced to scatter the keys to the human world—specifically Yumegahama—he escaped into the forest, but not before entrusting the final key to Haruka.
His younger sister, Princess Towa, fell under Dyspear’s influence and was twisted into the villain Twilight. Her corruption plunged the kingdom into despair, empowering Dyspear further. Despite this, Kanata persisted in resisting Dys Dark and guiding the Pretty Cures from a distance.
In the midst of battle, Kanata intervened to shield the Cures and Towa from an attack by Dyspear. The blow cast him to Earth and stripped him of his memories and powers. Discovered by a man named Nishikido, he lived with amnesia until episode 39, when he recovered his identity and past.
After the defeat of Dys Dark, the link between the Hope Kingdom and Earth was broken. Kanata returned to his homeland alongside Towa, Pafu, Aroma, and Miss Shamour, parting ways with the human Cures without hope of return. A final meeting with Haruka in a flower field hinted at a possible future reunion, marked by a new key born from her heart.
