Description
Prince Akatsuki stands among the elite Seven Prodigies, internationally celebrated high school students possessing extraordinary talents. His domain is stage magic, where he reigns supreme as the world's greatest magician. Akatsuki crafts immense illusions: vanishing prominent monuments or even entire mountains, generating dense smokescreens, and performing levitation. The unexplained mechanics of these feats enhance his mystique.
Possessing a slender frame, blonde neck-length hair, and cyan or blue eyes, Akatsuki's strikingly feminine appearance often leads to him being mistaken for a girl. This androgyny becomes a strategic asset when the Prodigies' leader, Tsukasa Mikogami, devises a plan. Akatsuki utilizes his appearance and illusionary prowess to pose as a deity, convincing the populace of Freyjagard that divine intervention supports their societal shift towards democracy, challenging the existing feudal order.
Specific instances of crossdressing occur during the narrative. Guarded constantly by female Prodigies known as "Angels" due to his divine status, they accompany him everywhere, including during baths and massages. Following one such massage, he appears dressed in a feminine nightdress. These occurrences, primarily stemming from situational circumstances rather than inherent character traits, are documented in episodes 9 and 10 of the anime adaptation.
Akatsuki's known role within the narrative centers on applying his illusionist capabilities to advance the Prodigies' objectives and sustain the constructed deity persona under Tsukasa's direction. He exhibits self-confidence in his magical abilities.
