Description
Shirosuke Inudō served as warden of Abashiri Prison after a transfer from Kabato Prison. His gaunt face featured furrowed eyes, absent eyebrows, a thick nose, light hair forming a widow's peak, and a dark mustache paired with a heavy beard. He consistently wore a high-ranking military uniform.

Earning the moniker "Demon Warden" through his harsh and unforgiving nature, Inudō held a deep-seated grudge against the Shinsengumi, especially Toshizō Hijikata. This stemmed from his elder brother's death fighting them during the Battle of Hakodate. Driven by this vendetta, he imprisoned Hijikata for decades, intending to break his spirit before execution. Inudō viewed Abashiri Prison as his personal domain, asserting absolute authority over all activities. He exhibited zero tolerance for perceived betrayal, employing ruthless methods like ordering the killing of a new guard suspected of spying for the 7th Division. His intolerance extended to outsiders, refusing Shinpachi Nagakura's plea to visit Hijikata at Kabato Prison and having Nagakura forcibly removed after an altercation.

During the Abashiri Prison arc, Inudō intensified his actions, stockpiling weapons and maintaining strict control over inmates, including the mysterious prisoner Noppera-Bo. When guard Usami Tokishige leaked information about Noppera-Bo to the 7th Division, Inudō attempted his assassination, which failed. His confrontation with Hijikata and allies during the prison break culminated in a duel. Inudō chained himself to Hijikata, having trained to fight one-handed for advantage. He demonstrated combat pragmatism by fatally wounding the blind prisoner Anji Toni and faking his own death to ambush Hijikata. However, Hijikata countered by throwing blood into Inudō's eye, creating an opening to defeat him. In his final moments, Inudō requested and received a traditional beheading.

Historically, the character may draw inspiration from Tsukigata Kiyoshi, the first warden of Kabato Prison, and Arima Shirosuke, the inaugural warden of Abashiri Prison, who was feared by inmates and nicknamed the "Monster Warden."
