Movie
Description
Benkei Hanawa initially serves as second-in-command of the Face Hunters gang under Kyoya Tategami. He projects a tough exterior, engaging in ruthless activities like stealing Beypoints from defeated opponents. His early interactions involve antagonizing bladers such as Kenta Yumiya and Gingka Hagane, challenging them to dominate battles, consistent with the gang's targeting of weaker bladers. Yet, an inherent kindness lies beneath this aggression, gradually emerging through key relationships. His unwavering loyalty to Kyoya persists despite harsh treatment, while his mentorship of Kenta marks a turning point, revealing compassion. This shift is evident when Benkei trains Kenta to defeat Hikaru Hasama fairly, rejecting gang tactics. His decision to free Madoka from a trap set for Gingka further demonstrates his evolving morality, ultimately leading to his expulsion from the Face Hunters.

Following his departure, Benkei transitions from antagonist to protagonist, aligning with Gingka's group. He maintains fierce loyalty to Kyoya, supporting him in tournaments and joining Team Wild Fang under the alias "The Masked Bull." His personality blends boisterous energy with unwavering determination; he expresses emotions loudly but struggles to hold grudges. Despite occasional naivete and overconfidence—like believing he could defeat Ryuga—his friendships deepen, especially with Kenta. His Beyblade, Dark Bull H145SD, reflects his fighting spirit as a Balance Type, utilizing moves like Bull Upper, Red Horn Upper, and Tornado Bull Upper. His competitive record remains inconsistent, with notable losses outweighing wins.

During the group's summer vacation depicted in the movie *Metal Fight Beyblade vs the Sun: Sol Blaze, the Scorching Hot Invader*, Benkei participates in beach activities and a Beyblade tournament. He engages in playful antics, like choking on a beverage offered by Kenta. When Helios confronts and defeats Gingka, Benkei joins Masamune, Kenta, and Yu in launching a collective attack against Sol Blaze, which Helios easily repels. Later, after Masamune returns injured, Benkei accompanies Gingka and others to the enemy headquarters. There, he launches Dark Bull alongside Flame Sagittario and Flame Libra to stop Helios from attacking Ray Striker. Helios counters with Blaze Execution, nearly destroying their Beys and forcing a retreat.

By *Beyblade: Shogun Steel*, Benkei has retired from active blading and established the fast-food restaurant Bull Burger. He occasionally coaches for the WBBA, maintaining a connection to the sport. His appearance matures, featuring a beard, brown boots, green cargo pants, and a black jacket with yellow accents. This career shift highlights his growth beyond competition while retaining community ties through mentorship. His journey completes an arc from antagonistic gang member to loyal ally and responsible adult, balancing inherent kindness with boisterous passion.
