Movie
Description
Kyoya Tategami is a tall, muscular teenager with tanned skin, spiky dark green hair tied into a shoulder-length ponytail, sharp blue eyes, and prominent fangs that contribute to his overall lion-like appearance. Symmetrical X-shaped scars mark his cheeks. He favors practical, rugged attire, typically a sleeveless army-green coat over a tattered black shirt that exposes his abdomen, along with fingerless gloves, cargo pants, boots, and a round pendant necklace. In later appearances, he adopts a sleeveless black jacket over a cropped green tank top, light grey pants, and a new fang pendant.
Initially, Kyoya leads the Face Hunters, a group known for bullying other bladers and stealing their points. Arrogant and cocky, he is singularly focused on proving his strength in battle. After learning of Gingka Hagane's abilities, he becomes obsessed with defeating him. Their first encounter ends in Kyoya's defeat, intensifying their rivalry. He later aligns with Doji of the Dark Nebula, who promises to enhance his power. Under this influence, Kyoya grows cold-hearted and ruthless, nearly destroying the beys of opponents like Dark Bull and Flame Sagittario. A second loss to Gingka breaks Doji's control and returns him to his senses.
Leaving the Dark Nebula, Kyoya disbands the Face Hunters and matures into a more honorable blader, though he retains his competitive and serious demeanor. He forges a friendship with Benkei Hanawa, who had admired him since their first battle. Kyoya's care for his bey, Rock Leone, deepens, evident when he withdraws from a battle to prevent its further damage. He participates in numerous tournaments and events, including the Big Bang Bladers World Championships, where he leads the African team, Team Wild Fang, alongside Nile, Demure, and Benkei. Despite his growth, he remains independent and often prioritizes his goal of surpassing Gingka over team cooperation.
In the film *Metal Fight Beyblade vs the Sun: Sol Blaze, the Scorching Hot Invader*, Kyoya appears in a supporting role. He observes from a distance as Gingka and his friends confront Helios, a blader using the powerful Sol Blaze bey to disrupt global weather patterns. During the climax, Kyoya intervenes to assist Gingka and Helios against Bakin's Dark Poseidon, enabling them to destroy the asteroid Adonis and save Earth. This action underscores his role as a reliable ally despite his typically lone-wolf nature.
Kyoya's bey evolves from Rock Leone 145WB to Fang Leone 130W2D, mirroring his development as a blader. He employs special moves such as Lion Gale Force Wall, Lion 100 Fang Fury, Lion Wild Wind Fang Dance, and King Lion Tearing Blast. His journey includes participation in the Battle Bladers tournament and later becoming one of the Legendary Bladers in the conflict against Nemesis, where he represents Spring as part of the Four Seasons Bladers. Throughout his evolution, he maintains a fierce rivalry with Gingka while demonstrating a strong sense of honor and commitment to his promises.
