Description
James Howlett, known as Wolverine, is a younger-looking mutant and member of the X-Men. He possesses an accelerated healing factor, enhanced senses, superhuman strength, and retractable adamantium-coated bone claws, making him one of the team's most formidable members.
Wolverine immediately warned Cyclops that Tony Stark's DISK technology could be weaponized against mutants like Sentinels. His fears materialized when Loki used the DISKs to imprison heroes, including X-Men Cyclops and Beast. Wolverine then dedicated himself to tracking down scattered DISKs globally to keep them from Loki.
Professor X dispatched Wolverine to recruit new mutant Noriko Ashida (Surge) on Techno Isle after detecting her bio-electrical powers, crucial for freeing the trapped X-Men. Arriving amidst a battle between the Avengers and his adversary Sabretooth, Wolverine intervened. Though their fight was interrupted by Destroyer units, he later declined an Avengers alliance, informing them of Sentinel persecution against mutants.
Wolverine approached Noriko after her powers manifested during a date with Hikaru Akatsuki. When self-loathing caused her to reject his sanctuary offer, he gave her space. He intervened again when the Avengers pressured her for help. After Noriko was manipulated into stealing the Avengers' DISKs for Okuma Jubei, Wolverine provided Hikaru with Cyclops' DISK, enabling their collaboration to rescue her. During this mission, Predator X's poison incapacitated Wolverine until Captain America aided his recovery.
He joined the X-Men and the children assaulting Loki's palace to reclaim the DISKs. There, he battled and defeated the palace-guarding Destroyers. Inside, he confronted Sabretooth once more, though the precise outcome remained unseen. Following Loki's defeat, Wolverine returned to America with the other X-Men.
Throughout these events, Wolverine maintained a cautious and distrustful alliance with the Avengers, collaborating only when necessary. His actions consistently prioritized mutant safety, especially protecting new mutants like Noriko from exploitation. His unresolved rivalry with Sabretooth persisted as an ongoing threat.
