Description
Born in Montreal, Natalie V. Adams shed her quiet, nerdy college identity – complete with anime collectibles – while attending the University of Toronto. Rooming with Julie Powers and dating Scott Pilgrim, she formed the band Kid Chameleon with Scott and Stephen Stills. Seeking reinvention, she sold her belongings for stylish clothes and adopted the name "Envy" (from her initials N.V.), embracing a more aggressive, callous persona. She steered Kid Chameleon towards commercial success, unilaterally signing them to a major label, and abruptly broke up with Scott during a New Year's party after his drunken instigation, an event he later repressed.

Post-breakup, Envy reconnected with childhood friend Todd Ingram, now possessing vegan superpowers. With Lynette Guycott, they formed the successful band The Clash at Demonhead. Reappearing during Scott's relationship with Ramona Flowers, Envy flaunted her fame and relationship with Todd (one of Ramona's exes). She instigated conflicts between Scott and Todd, including a race at Honest Ed's that Todd accidentally destroyed. Later confronting Ramona, Envy revealed knowledge of Ramona's past with Gideon Graves and nearly killed her using Ramona's subspace hammer until Knives Chau intervened. Ramona exposed Todd's infidelity with Lynette, confirmed when Todd emerged wearing Lynette's underwear. Envy attacked both in rage, but Todd knocked her aside with his powers. Witnessing Scott defeat Todd left her shaken. Scott later saw her off at the airport, allowing her to keep his sweater.

Months later, following The Clash at Demonhead's dissolution, Envy dated Gideon Graves and launched a solo music career with his backing. Returning to Toronto to open the Canadian Chaos Theatre, she encountered Scott again. During awkward meetings, she revealed he initiated their breakup argument, which he struggled to recall. She performed at the Chaos Theatre opening, where Gideon hid a sword in her costume during Scott's final battle against him. After Gideon's defeat, Envy discarded her rockstar persona, reverted to "Natalie," hugged Scott for closure, and admitted her relationship with Gideon was transactional: he exploited her talent while she used his influence.

In an alternate timeline, Envy attended Scott's funeral and sang in his honor while downplaying their past. She was later cast as Ramona Flowers in a film adaptation of Scott's life, with Ramona as her stunt double. Discovering Todd's affair with Wallace Wells, Envy forced Todd to confront him. After Wallace dismissed it as a fling, a despondent Todd lost his vegan powers. Envy retaliated by ordering Ramona (as her stunt double) to fight Wallace's stunt team and later collaborated with Stephen Stills and Knives Chau on a creative project.

Across media, Envy appears as a sub-boss alongside Lynette Guycott in World 3 of a video game, engaging in a tag-team battle using fast kicks and aerial attacks. Upon defeat, they briefly fight each other before vanishing, leaving behind $2.60. Her physical depiction varies, featuring red hair in source material and blonde hair in live-action adaptations.
