Musashi Gōda is the president of Salt Middle School's Body Improvement Club. Hailing from a family farm background, he possesses a towering, muscular build that belies his mid-teens age, often making him appear older. His personality centers on a strong sense of justice and kindness, rejecting unnecessary violence, as seen when he refuses to assist Tenga Onigawara in attacking Teruki Hanazawa. He openly welcomes Shigeo Kageyama into the club despite Shigeo's initial lack of physical prowess, encouraging personal growth, and generously allows the former Telepathy Club to use the club room after its disbandment. Musashi consistently displays loyalty and support for his friends. He leads the Body Improvement Club to rescue Shigeo during his kidnapping in the Teruki Hanazawa Arc, though defeated by Hanazawa's psychic powers. In the Big Cleanup Arc, he comforts Onigawara after false accusations. Later, in the Separate Ways Arc, he organizes a birthday celebration for club members; this event inadvertently contributes to a rift between Shigeo and Reigen Arataka following Reigen's comments about Shigeo's friendships. Despite lacking psychic powers, his physical capabilities are exceptional. He achieves first place in a track race during the World Domination Arc. When facing Hiroshi Shibata, the evil spirit Dimple temporarily possesses Musashi's body to amplify his natural strength, dubbing this state "100% muscle usage." Dimple notes significant latent power within Musashi's muscles, enabling him to momentarily overwhelm Shibata. However, the strain prevents repeated possession, and Shibata ultimately defeats Musashi and the club until Shigeo intervenes. Musashi's durability allows him to withstand attacks from espers like Hanazawa and Shibata. Academically, he struggles, reflected in mediocre exam results. Key relationships define his role. He shares a strong bond with Shigeo, respecting his perseverance in training and defending him against threats, exemplified in his speech confronting Shibata: "You've always been working so hard... You showed us how much you struggled. You gave us courage." He maintains a supportive friendship with Onigawara, consoling him during difficult times even after being manipulated into conflict. His leadership in the Body Improvement Club fosters camaraderie among members. Musashi embodies the series' theme of self-improvement over hierarchical comparison. His focus on developing physical strength through dedication, rather than measuring himself against others, contrasts with characters obsessed with superiority. His acceptance of Shigeo's weaknesses and recognition of his psychic abilities as another form of personal growth further illustrates this mindset.
