Description
Rayne Ames is a third-year student at Easton Magic Academy, holding the prestigious Sword Cane title among the Divine Visionaries and serving as prefect of Adler dorm. His striking appearance features blonde hair on the right side of his head and black hair on the left, with light yellow eyes and two magic marks beneath each eye. He wears the standard Easton uniform: a white button-up shirt, black robe, red tie, black pants, and brown shoes.

Born into the Ames family, Rayne and his younger brother Finn were orphaned after their parents' early deaths. Relatives refused shelter, forcing them into homelessness and daily survival struggles. These hardships forged Rayne's resolve to become a Divine Visionary, aiming to build a world where orphans live peacefully. His academic excellence earned early Divine Visionary recognition, elevating him to nobility with substantial financial rewards.

Rayne typically displays a serious, cold, and detached demeanor, rarely revealing emotions. Beneath this exterior, he fiercely protects those he values, yet exhibits ruthless cruelty toward enemies—using torture to extract information when necessary. A contrasting trait is his obsessive love for rabbits; he owns multiple and uses bunny-themed items like a magical healing handkerchief.

His primary magic, Partisan, summons and manipulates swords. Techniques include Three Percent Partisan (three swords), Ten Percent Partisan (ten swords), Partisan Surf (sword-riding for high-speed travel), Rapid Partisan (high-speed volleys), and Large Partisan (a single giant sword). As a triple-liner, he summons the war god Ares, amplifying his magic to Secondth-level potency via Black Partisan. Additional abilities include Disclose (revealing hidden magical doors), sharp intellect for detecting deception, enhanced endurance, and immense magic power resisting abilities like Abyss Razor's Evil Eye. He also wields Arachnabus, a spider-like summon that assesses opponents' true magic power.

Key moments include rescuing Finn and Dot Barrett from Magia Lupus' Fourth Fang, Milo Genius, in the academy basement. After brutally interrogating Milo, he encountered Mash Burnedead. Mistaking Mash for an enemy, Rayne tested him by escalating magic output to 10%. Recognizing Mash's potential, he later advocated for his pardon during the trial over Mash's lack of magic.

Rayne's relationship with Finn is defined by overprotectiveness rooted in their traumatic past. He distanced himself to shield Finn from backlash over societal reforms, even calling him a "burden." This shifted during the Eclipse Arc when Finn unlocked Secondth magic to aid Rayne against Delisaster. Witnessing Finn's growth, Rayne accepted his strength, later calling him "the most important person" in his life. He also respects Mash's goal of becoming a Divine Visionary without magic, seeing him as an ally for a fairer world.

During the Eclipse Arc, Rayne battled Innocent Zero's forces. He fought Delisaster alone to protect Finn until Finn joined, resulting in their joint victory. Later, Rayne and Finn rescued Lance Crown and Dot Barrett from Doom, though Doom overwhelmed them until reinforcements arrived.
