Description
Jūzō Fujimaki masters Takemiya-ryuu, a martial art whose comprehensive techniques—strikes, throws, and joint locks—surpass disciplines like karate, judo, and wrestling. Years of rigorous training forged extraordinary physical abilities: exceptional speed, strength, and combat precision exceeding normal human limits. This enables feats like killing a bear barehanded or delivering skull-shattering strikes.

Six years before the main events, Fujimaki became a fugitive after killing a home invader he discovered sexually assaulting Saeko Izumi. Saeko, his master's daughter and unrequited love, cried for vengeance. Fujimaki instantly attacked and killed the assailant. He then fled to evade legal consequences, living reclusively while avoiding police questioning for years. This fugitive status earned him a three million yen bounty and relentless law enforcement pursuit.

During hiding, Fujimaki resurfaced to attack top fighters from Matsuo Shouzan's Hokushinkan Karate School under the alias "Bunshichi Tanba." He flawlessly defeated three of their best practitioners, intending to lure the real Tanba. The plan succeeded, leading to an inconclusive confrontation between Fujimaki and Tanba interrupted by Saeko and her lover, Tsutomu Himekawa.

His fugitive status barred formal entry into the Kodoku underground tournament, though he was blackmailed into joining. Instead of competing directly, he trained professional wrestler Hiroshi Nagata for the event. After Nagata lost to Himekawa in the finals, Fujimaki personally challenged Himekawa. During their fight, Fujimaki deliberately broke his own arm to equalize the match. He nearly secured victory using the lethal "Jikaburi" throw, but a mistimed flying kick allowed Himekawa to counter and knock him unconscious.

Throughout these events, Fujimaki wrestled with intense guilt over killing the intruder and the trauma he believed he inflicted on Saeko. This internal conflict manifested as an "inner beast"—a metaphor for his violent impulses and rage—which he consciously struggled to suppress in combat. A pivotal moment came when he learned Saeko bore him no resentment, alleviating some of his longstanding guilt.

Despite this emotional resolution, Fujimaki's legal status remained unresolved. He continued evading law enforcement within the underground martial arts world, his future as a fugitive uncertain.
