Description
Haruichi Izumo is a super-elite candidate of the Japan Anti-Kaiju Defense Force who graduated at the top of his class from Tokyo Extermination University. Despite being the heir of the powerful Izumo Technologies company, a major manufacturer of anti-kaiju weaponry, he remains notably humble and avoids flaunting his privileged background. He stands at 178 cm (or 179 cm) tall with deep cyan-colored hair typically tied in a knot at the back of his head.

In terms of personality, Haruichi is almost always calm and collected, demonstrating a remarkable ability to keep a level head even in high-pressure battle situations. He is known for his quick judgment, sharp analytical thinking, and a clear-eyed understanding of both his own strengths and weaknesses as well as those of his teammates. While humble and caring toward his friends, he also possesses a playful side that makes him easy to get along with. He is competitive, particularly with his close friend Aoi Kaguragi, but does not let emotions get the better of him.

Haruichis motivations for joining the Defense Force stem from multiple sources. He holds great admiration for Mina Ashiro, one of the most prominent leaders in the organization. Additionally, his family situation plays a significant role. Although his family owns one of the largest anti-kaiju weapons companies, he has not spoken to his father for several years due to undisclosed family issues. This estrangement adds a layer of personal complexity to his character, though he tends to focus on teamwork and helping others rather than dwelling on his background.

Within the story, Haruichi serves as a key supporting character among the new generation of Defense Force recruits. He is part of the same training cohort as Reno Ichikawa, Kikoru Shinomiya, Iharu Furuhashi, and Aoi Kaguragi. He performs exceptionally well in the Defense Force selection examinations, achieving excellent results in both academics and combat, and is considered second only to Kikoru Shinomiya in overall ability among his peers. During the fitness exam, he placed second out of 225 candidates, demonstrating his physical prowess. Initially, he can release 18% of his combat suits power, but by the time of the raid on Tachikawa Base, his unleashed combat power has grown to 36%, proving he can scale the wall that many officers cannot surpass. He is eventually transferred to the Second Division following the destruction of the Tachikawa Base.

Key relationships play an important role in Haruichis development. He shares a particularly close bond with Aoi Kaguragi, with whom he maintains a spirited rivalry that pushes both to improve; they respect each others abilities and form an effective partnership in combat. He also supports and works alongside Reno Ichikawa, Iharu Furuhashi, and Kikoru Shinomiya, using his keen judgment to back them up. A memorable incident that deepened his bonds with his comrades occurred at a celebration party for new recruits, where he was designated organizer. The head chef, an old family friend, inadvertently revealed Haruichis wealthy background to everyone, and the meal included a legendary non-existent A6-rank black beef, making the story unforgettable among his team.

Haruichis most notable ability lies in his tactical analysis and marksmanship. He specializes in a support role on the battlefield, reading the flow of combat and providing precisely what his teammates need. He wields a custom bow-shaped sniper weapon designated AW-0027, which consists of three stacked bazooka-like barrels that fire arrows capable of releasing poison inside kaiju. While this weapon does not deal massive direct damage to large monsters, the poison effectively immobilizes them by slowing their movements, allowing teammates with greater firepower to finish the job. He can also fire arrows into the sky to rain poison down over a wide area. His custom bow relies on minimal support from the control system, offering incredible adaptability but demanding a wielder with quick wit and sharp intuition. As an officer, he is proficient in martial arts that became mandatory in Japanese education, and his combat suit reinforces his stamina, strength, and durability. In his personal life, he enjoys do-it-yourself carpentry, solo camping, classical music, and snack foods.
