Taric Mehani

Description
Taric Mehani is a French actor and artistic director, widely recognized for his extensive work in dubbing, particularly in anime and animated series. Before pursuing a career in acting, he studied mathematics and earned a bachelor's degree. His interest in performance was sparked by his university's theater workshop, leading him to pursue formal training in drama at the renowned Cours Simon and later at the Atelier de Théâtre de Blanche Salant et Paul Weaver in Paris. He began his career on the stage, performing in both classical and contemporary plays, including works by Molière, Alfred de Musset, and Harold Pinter. His entry into voice acting came by chance when a studio contacted him seeking new talent.

Mehani has become a prominent figure in the world of French dubbing for Japanese animation. He is notably the regular French voice for the character Makoto Hyuga across numerous installments of the Evangelion franchise, including the original series and the Rebuild of Evangelion films. Another significant early role was as Dr. Kenzo Tenma, the protagonist of the acclaimed series Monster. In the series Shaman King, he voiced the protagonist Yoh Asakura in both the 2001 anime and its 2021 adaptation, as well as Yoh's powerful twin brother, Hao. He also took on the role of Shun of Andromeda for The Hades Chapter and Elysion arcs of Saint Seiya.

His repertoire includes a wide range of characters in major series. He voiced Brandon Heat in Gungrave, Hige in Wolf's Rain, and Vincent Law in Ergo Proxy. In Hunter x Hunter (1999), he lent his voice to Kaito, and in Great Teacher Onizuka, he played Yoshito Kikuchi. He also appeared as Caleb in W.I.T.C.H., Peter Pan in Les Nouvelles Aventures de Peter Pan, and Stork in Storm Hawks. His work extends to film dubbing for anime, with roles such as Ryu in the 1978 Gatchaman movie and the Kid in L'Île de Black Mór.

In more recent productions, Mehani's voice can be heard as Justice in Edens Zero, Katsumi Amako in Orient, and Kōki Suidō in Tokyo 24th Ward. He also voiced the lead character, Tetsuya Azuma, in the OVA Casshan: Robot Hunter. The roles mentioned for him in Tribe Nine (Eiji Todoroki and Kai Asahikawa) and Submarine Super 99 (Susumu Oki) further demonstrate the breadth of his work across different genres of animation.

Beyond animation, Mehani is also a familiar voice in live-action series and films, regularly dubbing actors such as Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler, Michael Graziadei, and Rupert Friend. His career highlights his versatility and his status as a key contributor to French-language adaptations of international productions.
