Description
Andre Camel serves as an FBI special agent, badge number 20723. At 27 years old, his large, muscular frame and features often earn him descriptions like an "ugly mug" or "gorilla-like" appearance. Beneath this imposing exterior lies a genuinely caring and conscientious nature towards colleagues, though his judgment can prove impulsive or flawed, sometimes triggering significant consequences.

A profound guilt defines him, stemming from an incident two years prior. While surveilling a meeting between Shuichi Akai and Gin, Camel intervened to warn an elderly man entering the designated warehouse, mistakenly believing him endangered. This alert forced the Black Organization to abort the meeting and ultimately exposed Akai's true identity as an FBI infiltrator. Camel blames this error for the subsequent death of Akai's partner, Akemi Miyano, fostering a lifelong sense of debt. This guilt fuels his unwavering loyalty to Akai and willingness to accept high-risk, potentially fatal assignments on his behalf.

Camel possesses exceptional technical driving skills. He demonstrated this during the Kir Transport Operation, volunteering to drive a decoy van transporting the compromised CIA agent Hidemi Hondou (Kir) as part of Akai's plan. Camel executed a controlled crash and escaped a staged explosion, deceiving the Organization into believing he perished and Kir was forcibly extracted. This required precise timing and coordination with Akai and Conan Edogawa. However, his social and improvisational skills are less refined. During the Shiranpuri Case, Japanese police detained him while exercising. He failed to convincingly maintain a cover story when Jodie Starling fabricated a scenario portraying them as lovers to secure his release.

He enjoys intense physical training, characterized by Akai as a "muscle-training maniac." Camel frequents establishments serving food and drinks meeting his approval, developing a particular fondness for Japanese cuisine. An American with functional Japanese proficiency, he struggles with local dialects and idiomatic expressions. He is unmarried and has no immediate family.

In the *Zero's Tea Time* spinoff (anime Episode 5, manga Chapter 44), Camel visits Café Poirot for its food and atmosphere, unknowingly interacting with Tooru Amuro—operating undercover as Bourbon within the Black Organization and Rei Furuya of Japan's Public Security Bureau. Their encounter remains superficially cordial, Camel unaware of Amuro's true affiliations. A subsequent sauna visit in Chapter 44 highlights Camel's appreciation for Japanese bathing etiquette. Observing Amuro's composure in the cold bath, Camel later identifies signs of dehydration in another patron. Amuro assists the distressed man and forces Camel to drink salted water to address his own dehydration. Camel interprets this through the Japanese proverb "sending salt to an enemy," acknowledging Amuro's adherence to a code of honor despite their adversarial positions.

His key relationships involve devoted loyalty to Shuichi Akai, professional complicity with fellow agents Jodie Starling and James Black, and wary, occasionally respectful interactions with the irritatingly perceptive Tooru Amuro.
