Tsubasa transforms from a 400 series bullet train into the second Hikarian, succeeding Nozomi. He maintains a normal train routine during peace but swiftly shifts to combat mode against threats. His design faithfully mirrors a real-life train model, aligning with most series characters except the antagonist Black Express. Renowned for sharpness and agility, Tsubasa excels in tight or elevated battle spaces. He shares a close operational partnership and deep friendship with fellow Hikarian Nozomi. Similarly, he maintains a strong bond with the human Tetsuyuki Shinbashi, frequently seen collaborating on missions. A defining trait is his intense fear of ghosts, which surfaces dramatically when a phantom steam locomotive haunts his patrol route, causing him to abandon duty. This specter is later exposed as a holographic projection by the antagonist Blatcher. In combat, Tsubasa wields the offensive Slasher Wing and the defensive Wind Shield. He demonstrates effective teamwork, notably in episode 108 where he and Nozomi unleash a powerful, unnamed joint technique resembling a firebird to defeat Blatcher. Beyond battle, Tsubasa acts as a protective older brother figure to the younger character K-kun, revealing a nurturing dimension to his character.
