Chiyo is the great-grandmother of Hana, a young girl residing in Kikyōgahara, Shin Province. Hana affectionately calls her "Granny" and holds profound concern for her well-being, particularly regarding Chiyo's unmet longing to witness cherry blossoms. This deeply personal wish becomes pivotal when Hana bargains with Genbanojō, the leader of a fox troupe appearing in human form, offering to safeguard their secret in exchange for fulfilling Chiyo's dream of seeing the cherry blossoms.
