Reiko Suzuki is a respected Japanese voice actress born on August 15, 1944, in Tokyo, Japan. She is affiliated with the talent agency Arts Vision. Her path to voice acting began with training in stage performance; she is a graduate of the Theatre Arts Academy. After initially working as a stage actress, she transitioned to voice work, finding a new career path in the burgeoning anime industry.

Suzuki's career took off in the late 1970s, with early roles in classic series such as A Dog of Flanders, Mobile Suit Gundam, and Time Bokan. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, she became a ubiquitous presence in anime, building a career that now spans over four decades. She is particularly renowned for her portrayals of elderly women, grandmothers, and mothers, though her vocal range has also allowed her to play young boys and even quirky creatures. Her ability to bring both warmth and a comedic edge to these supporting characters has made them memorable and endeared her to generations of anime fans.

Her filmography is extensive and includes many notable roles. She voiced Chocoma in the 1979 series Toshi Gordian. In the 1981 series Gold Lightan - The Golden Warrior, she played multiple characters, including Monkichi Kogarashi and Denji Lightan. She took on the role of V-May in the 1989 series Madō King Granzort. In the same year, she also voiced an auntie in Ranma ½. The 1993 film Birth featured her as a character listed simply as Grandma. She voiced Masu in the 2002 series Space Pirate Captain Herlock The Endless Odyssey and Shige Yamada in Nono-chan. Her role as the narrator for the series Wasimo began in 2014. In the 2018 film The Seven Deadly Sins the Movie: Prisoners of the Sky, she provided the voice for Vaness. More recently, she has reprised the role of Goldova in the 2021 and 2024 iterations of Shaman King.

Beyond the roles listed, Suzuki is widely recognized by audiences for several long-running and iconic parts. These include the next-door neighbor Ms. Kitamoto in the long-running series Crayon Shin-chan, the grandmother character in the Studio Ghibli films My Neighbor Totoro and Castle in the Sky, and the villainous Enya the Hag in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Her talent extends beyond anime into dubbing foreign films and television series, as well as voicing characters in video games like the God of War series. She has also lent her distinctive voice to tokusatsu (live-action special effects) productions such as Ressha Sentai ToQger.

In addition to her performance work, Suzuki has contributed significantly to the industry as an educator. She serves as a lecturer at the Japan Narration Acting Institute in Tokyo, where she has mentored and trained many aspiring voice actors, including the popular voice actress Yui Horie. Her personal interests and skills include skiing, traditional Japanese dance, and the classical singing style nagauta. She also holds a fifth-degree black belt in the martial art Aikido.
