Description
Futaba, a fiercely competitive elementary school student with a streak of jealousy, fixates on her childhood friend Atsushi, perceiving Reina Aharen as a rival due to his admiration for the latter. This rivalry drives her to challenge Reina in strategic clashes of Reversi and claw machine contests. Her appearance mirrors her name’s botanical origins—brown hair, purple eyes, and outfits accented with leaf motifs, including a green headband sporting twin-leaf decorations and a white shirt embroidered with a sprout design.
Initially distrustful and confrontational toward Reina, Futaba misreads innocuous interactions between Reina and Atsushi, even envisioning Reina as a menacing adversary. Her inability to voice her affection for Atsushi fuels this antagonism, masking her feelings behind teasing remarks and aloofness. Discovering Reina’s crush on Raido softens Futaba’s stance, enabling fragile alliances with Reina and her siblings.
Beyond Atsushi, Futaba navigates complex bonds with Reina’s younger siblings, Ren and Eru. Early suspicions of rivalry give way to camaraderie, particularly with Eru, whom she guides toward self-acceptance. Though prone to tsundere outbursts, Futaba reveals unexpected warmth and perceptiveness, grounding her eccentric peers with pragmatic insights.
Skilled in Reversi but inept in the kitchen, Futaba gradually matures by confronting insecurities and misunderstandings. Immersing herself in group activities with the Aharen family broadens her social horizons, easing her obsession with Atsushi. Her growth culminates in acknowledging Reina’s significance to him while carving her own supportive role within their community.
