Description
Yuuya Kazami holds the rank of Assistant Inspector within the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's Public Security Bureau (PSB). Based in the PSB building, he leads a team of officers and commands considerable respect among his colleagues. He acts as the direct subordinate to Rei Furuya, executing orders with minimal hesitation and demonstrating unwavering trust in his superior. Certain operations require him to adopt the alias "Danroku Hida" to mask his identity as a PSB agent.

Kazami possesses a tall stature and pale skin. His appearance features tousled dark brown hair, grey eyes typically obscured by oval glasses, and a signature green suit paired with a red tie.

His personality reveals contrasting sides. Professionally, during investigations, he adopts a serious and strict approach, employing harsh tactics such as threatening suspects with his firearm or fabricating evidence to accelerate case resolutions. He notably threatened Curaçao during interrogation and used similar methods against Kogoro Mouri, though he releases suspects upon securing conclusive evidence. Despite these aggressive methods, his deductive reasoning proves poor, evidenced by his struggle to identify his mobile gaming partner. He exhibits visible fear around superiors like Hyoue Kuroda. Off-duty, Kazami displays a more relaxed and friendly demeanor, indulging in childish humor. He maintains a deeply respectful, almost reverential attitude towards Rei Furuya. He harbors an interest in attractive women but acknowledges his age as a limiting factor. Kazami dislikes celery and enjoys spicy curry, though it occasionally overwhelms him. He is also a fan of the idol Yoko Okino, an interest sparked while investigating Kogoro Mouri.

Kazami graduated from the Police Academy in the same year as Muga Iori. His investigative involvements span multiple cases:
* In the "Haibara's Lost Phone Strap" case (Manga File 998, Anime Episode 926), he assisted Rei Furuya by verifying a name written on a train window.
* During the "Trapped at Hatoyama Farm" incident (Manga Files 1051-1054, Anime Episodes 1053-1054), he was overpowered by a suspect, trapped in a basement, and forced to use the alias Danroku Hida to protect identities while collaborating with Conan and the Detective Boys for rescue.
* In the non-canon film *The Darkest Nightmare* (Movie 20), he confronted Curaçao during her data theft, oversaw her transfer, and escorted her to a Ferris wheel under Rei's orders. During the escort, he threatened her with torture for information on the Black Organization but was overpowered when she regained her memories, requiring rescue by Conan.
* He sustained injuries in an explosion while patrolling a facility in *Zero the Enforcer* (Movie 22).
* In *The Bride of Halloween* (Movie 25), he participated in confronting a serial bomber linked to Rei's past and later discovered the neutralizer for the bombs' chemical components after analyzing samples.
* His role in *Zero's Tea Time* includes firearms training sessions with Rei, where Rei corrected his off-target shooting and advised on gun maintenance, highlighting their operational rapport.

His interpersonal dynamics are defined by hierarchy. He addresses Rei Furuya formally as "Furuya-san" or "Amuro-san," reflecting deep loyalty. He refers to Wataru Takagi as "Sergeant Takagi" and Miwako Sato as "Lieutenant Inspector Sato," indicating professional respect. His interactions with Conan Edogawa are pragmatic, calling him "the boy with glasses" or "that kid," while Conan addresses him politely as "Kazami-san." He uses dismissive or fabricated identities with suspects like Curaçao or Kogoro Mouri during interrogations.

Trivia notes include the Gundam-inspired origin of his name, derived from Kamille Bidan (*Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam*), with his surname translating to "wind vane" and given name meaning "sum of money." His alias "Danroku Hida" incorporates a pun related to his Japanese voice actor's name.
