TV-Series
Description
Ayu Tsukimiya, originating from *Kanon*, is a 17-year-old girl whose short stature of 154 cm and weight of 41 kg, combined with a childlike appearance, often leads others to underestimate her age. She possesses brown hair typically secured with a red hairband and distinctive pink eyes. Her signature outfit includes a tan duffle coat, mittens, brown argyle socks, snow boots, and a small backpack adorned with attached wings, a design element initially removed during development for spoiler reasons but later reinstated due to its thematic significance.

Her personality radiates high energy and impulsiveness, often manifesting as clumsiness. She frequently uses the verbal tic "ugū" to convey frustration, fear, or anger and refers to herself with the masculine pronoun "boku." Ayu displays childlike curiosity and naïveté, sometimes showing unfamiliarity with common objects like mobile phones, yet approaches learning with enthusiasm. She forms deep bonds quickly, expressing profound affection for friends like Yuichi Aizawa and his aunt Akiko. Fears, particularly of ghosts or supernatural themes, provoke exaggerated screams. Ayu loves taiyaki above all other food, consumes it constantly, is left-handed, and treats pinky promises as solemn vows reflecting her strong value of trust.

Her backstory involves a traumatic childhood event seven years prior: orphaned and grieving her mother's death, she met Yuichi Aizawa. He comforted her with taiyaki, sparking her lasting fondness for it. Their friendship deepened, leading Yuichi to gift her an angel doll won from a claw machine. He pledged to grant three wishes upon it. Ayu's first wish was for Yuichi to never forget her; her second was to "attend school" together. They established a makeshift school beneath a large tree in a forest clearing. During one visit, a strong gust blew Ayu from the tree, causing severe head and back injuries that left her comatose. The trauma also suppressed Yuichi's memories of her.

In the present narrative, Ayu reappears as an *ikiryō* (a living spirit) while her physical body remains comatose. She reunites with Yuichi after colliding with him in a shopping district while fleeing a taiyaki vendor. Though Yuichi initially fails to recognize her, Ayu remembers their past and seeks his help to find a lost item she cannot identify. Their interactions gradually restore Yuichi's fragmented memories. As their relationship strengthens, Ayu recalls the lost item is the angel doll and the details of her accident. This realization causes her spirit to vanish abruptly. Distraught, Yuichi retrieves and repairs the buried doll, leading to a final reunion at the now-felled tree. Ayu considers using her third wish to erase Yuichi's memories to spare him pain, but after reaffirming their bond, she instead wishes for a future together. This wish results in her awakening from the coma; later adaptations depict her using a wheelchair during recovery.

Ayu also appears in crossover media like *Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Mei* and the fighting game *Eternal Fighter Zero*. In the latter, her gameplay incorporates story elements, such as the winged backpack enabling aerial maneuvers and attacks named after her traits like "Uguu Press" and "Taiyaki Assault." Her thematic leitmotif, "Hidamari no Machi" ("A Sunny City"), is recurrently associated with her scenes.
