Di Gi Charat, alias Dejiko, is an alien princess originating from the planet Di Gi Charat. Her true name is Chocola, despite her aversion to chocolate; her father bestowed the regal name Di Gi Charat to signify her status as heir. Fleeing her invaded homeworld, she escaped to Earth alongside her younger sister Petit Charat (Puchiko) and guardian Gema, pursued by the Analogue King and Queen. She took residence above a Gamers retail store in exchange for employment, working alongside her rival Rabi~en~Rose, whose real name is Hikaru Usada.
Dejiko presents as a short humanoid cat girl with bright green hair, large green eyes, and distinct feline traits: a white-eared hat, a tail, and paw-like mittens and socks. Her signature attire is a blue maid-style dress decorated with three bells and ribbons. While this design persists in most series, adaptations vary; *Panyo Panyo Di Gi Charat* features her in a pink dress, and *Winter Garden* depicts her as a 20-year-old human woman with subdued green hair, wearing ordinary clothes like a plaid skirt and brown jacket.
Her personality sharply contrasts her cute appearance. She is typically hot-headed, lazy, stubborn, and quick to anger, frequently firing destructive eye beams at perceived annoyances. She exhibits selfishness, refusing help unless motivated, and disrespect, dubbing fans "Bukimi" (eerie). Nevertheless, she cares deeply for Puchiko, traveling to America to rescue her when she goes missing. She also shows occasional remorse, like regretting attempts to harm Rabi~en~Rose.
Dejiko's character evolves across media. In the prequel *Panyo Panyo Di Gi Charat*, she is younger and significantly kinder, motivated by helping others and spreading happiness, though stubbornness remains. In *Di Gi Charat Nyo!*, she works at a toy store while training to become a princess within a lighter, alternate continuity, displaying similar laziness and eye beam usage. The *Winter Garden* special portrays her as a mature, soft-spoken 20-year-old working at a maid-themed café, lacking her earlier temper. Here, she develops a romantic interest in Takurou Senba and acts protectively toward Puchiko.
Her abilities include the destructive "Laser Eye Beam," generated from anger. She consistently uses the verbal tic "-nyo" and is associated with motifs like cat ears and bells. Her relationships feature a rivalry with Piyoko Pyocola Analogue III, leader of the Black Gema Gema Gang who repeatedly attempts to kidnap her. She shares a close bond with Puchiko, fiercely protecting her, and a contentious dynamic with Rabi~en~Rose, taunting her by using her real name "Usada".
In the film *A Trip to the Planet*, Dejiko returns to her homeworld to reunite with her parents, showcasing her underlying family affection. Her background reveals she was sent to Earth partly to evade the Black Gema Gema Gang, though she later forms a reluctant camaraderie with Piyoko.
