Crafted from an Earth-energized stone, this being manifested in Heaven with a child's form but no memories or identity. Kanzeon Bosatsu entrusted him to her initially reluctant nephew, minor deity Konzen Douji. Konzen named him Son Goku, becoming his primary guardian. Goku viewed Konzen as his "sun," forming a profound bond. He also grew close to Marshal Tenpou and General Kenren of Heaven's Western Army, who showed him kindness. His first peer friend was the War Prince Nataku, similar in apparent age, though their interactions were limited by Nataku's father due to Goku's heretical golden eyes.
Goku displayed a cheerful, curious, and innocent nature, marveling at simple things like food, sky, and flowers. He formed attachments quickly, fearing loneliness and rejection, stemming from his initial "blank slate" existence. Despite his childlike demeanor, immense latent power necessitated heavy shackles (over 100kg) on his limbs and neck in Heaven. Though restrictive, they didn't eliminate his surprising agility. He also wore a golden diadem, a god-crafted power limiter suppressing his true nature.
A pivotal moment occurred when grief and rage over his bird friend's death shattered his diadem. This unleashed his true form, Seiten Taisei (Great Sage Equaling Heaven). Transformed with elongated hair, pointed ears, slit pupils, claws, fangs, and the demon mark "完" (kan/gan) on his abdomen, he became violently cruel. Seiten Taisei massacred celestial beings, his demonic energy incinerating nearby gods. Kanzeon Bosatsu intervened, but Konzen, Tenpou, and Kenren protected him from execution.
This protection branded them enemies of Heaven. Konzen, Kenren, Tenpou, and subdued Goku attempted to flee to the Lower World, taking the Dragon King hostage. Their escape failed. Punished, Goku was imprisoned for 500 years in a solitary cage high on Mount Gogyou. Enduring harsh weather, including heavy snow, in thin clothing, he suffered extreme neglect and starvation, causing significant physical and mental trauma. He lost most memories of Heaven and his friends. The isolation instilled deep fears of abandonment and cold environments, especially snow. The starvation caused a lasting, intense hunger. His physical aging halted completely during this time.
After 500 years, priest Genjo Sanzo, drawn by Goku's subconscious calls, freed him from his chains and offered his hand. This marked Goku's liberation. Sanzo became a foster father figure, providing care. Goku accompanied Sanzo, helping save Cho Gonou (later Cho Hakkai) from suicide. Hakkai became a teacher and caretaker. Goku joined Sanzo, Hakkai, and Sha Gojyo on a westward mission to prevent demon god Gyumaoh's resurrection. During this journey, Goku gradually discovered his true nature as Seiten Taisei, previously unaware of his full origins and power. Fragmented memories of Heaven returned, though incomplete. His diadem continued restraining his power, though extreme emotional distress, like witnessing Sanzo near death, could break it, reverting him to the destructive Seiten Taisei state. In this form, he was nearly invincible, regenerating severe wounds by drawing Earth's energy, moving at imperceptible speeds, and exhibiting sadistic combat, though fragments of his core self sometimes surfaced. He acquired his primary weapon, the extendable Nyoi-Bo staff, after release. Despite his cheerful, often hungry demeanor while restrained, the traumas of his past – losing his heavenly guardians, the massacre, centuries of isolation, and fear of losing Sanzo – remained underlying, manifesting in vulnerability or extreme stress.
