Rigurd originated as an elderly, frail goblin chief of a Jura Forest village. His deteriorated state featured a short stature, wrinkled skin, dependence on a walking stick, and difficulty keeping his eyes open, accompanied by slow, stuttering speech. The village existed under the protective aura of the sealed Storm Dragon Veldora, whom goblins worshipped as a deity. His unnamed eldest son perished leading an ambush against invading Direwolves after Veldora’s aura vanished; this son was later named Rigur by the manipulative Gelmud. Desperate goblins summoned Rimuru Tempest during the Direwolf crisis. After Rimuru defeated the Direwolf leader and negotiated peace, he bestowed a name upon Rigurd. This triggered Rigurd’s evolution into a hobgoblin—an event later termed the "Rigurd Shock" for its dramatic transformation. He developed a robust, muscular frame comparable to a large human (approximately 190-200 cm tall), discarded his walking stick, and fully opened his eyes. His voice deepened, and he frequently expressed gratitude for his renewed vitality. Rimuru appointed him Goblin King to manage daily operations across neighboring goblin villages. As the Jura-Tempest Federation formalized, Rigurd rose to Prime Minister, handling most internal affairs excluding wartime operations. He held supreme authority under Rimuru, overseeing civil administration, citizenship, security, and diplomacy. He collaborated with key figures: Luigurd (law), Regurd (legislation), Logurd (administration), and Lilina (production). His leadership emphasized inclusivity and diplomacy, utilizing innate charisma to cultivate ties with human merchants and nations. Rigurd displayed profound loyalty to Rimuru, often becoming emotional or excitable during their interactions. He organized frequent festivals and feasts, reflecting his community focus. As a father, he exhibited tearful pride in his second son Rigur. Despite a stoic official demeanor, he maintained humor and situational awareness, guiding others calmly through crises. Though primarily an administrator, Rigurd possessed notable combat prowess. Initially rated B-Rank post-evolution, his strength grew to A-Rank or higher via training. Demonstrated feats included effortlessly hurling a 20-meter Megalodon alongside Geld. He frequently underestimated his strength, lamenting limited training time due to administrative duties. His abilities were augmented by the "Great Demon Lord’s Blessing" and "Protection of Tempest." His near-death existence as a goblin fueled unwavering dedication to Rimuru, who rescued his village and honored his deceased son. This loyalty solidified his role as a foundational pillar in Tempest’s governance and unity.
