TV-Series
Description
Liliruca Arde, often called Lili, is a fifteen-year-old Pallum girl who serves as a supporter and strategist for Bell Cranel and the Hestia Familia. She stands about three feet seven inches tall with chestnut-colored hair and eyes, and typically wears a torn red and white hooded top, a red skirt, long gloves, black tights, and light brown boots, often carrying a large backpack and a small rapid-fire crossbow named Sciurus Walnut.

Lili was born into the Soma Familia because her parents were members, but they neglected her and forced her to earn money for them from a young age. After her parents were killed in the Dungeon, she was left to fend for herself. The Soma Familia bullied her and did not provide care, leaving her isolated and lonely. She tried to become an adventurer but lacked the talent and nearly died, so she switched to being a supporter, a role in which she carried gear and treasures for adventurers. As a supporter, she was constantly looked down on and mistreated, which fueled a deep hatred and distrust of all adventurers. She attempted to run away from the Soma Familia, and an old couple briefly took her in, but the familia tracked her down, destroyed the couple’s store, and stole their money as punishment. This experience convinced Lili that she had no true allies. Desperate to survive, she began using her innate transformation magic, Cinder Ella, to disguise herself as different races and trick adventurers into partying with her so she could steal their items and money, hoping to eventually buy her freedom.

Her life changed when she met Bell Cranel. She initially intended to trick and steal from him as she had done with others, but Bell treated her with unusual kindness, trust, and generosity, including giving her an equal share of their earnings. This made her question her cynical worldview. When she was cornered by hostile adventurers from her past, Bell rescued her without hesitation, proving that not all adventurers were the same. This act of salvation led her to leave the Soma Familia with the goddess Hestia’s help and join the Hestia Familia, where she became a valued member and the group’s self-appointed treasurer.

Lili’s personality is shaped by her difficult past. She is shrewd, calculating, and initially very distrustful, but after joining the Hestia Familia, she becomes deeply loyal and protective of her new family. She is the brains of the group, often developing battle plans and using her street smarts to gather information. She possesses strong insight, forged during her time as a thief, and can pick up on subtle patterns and behaviors in others. She tends to take the most logical and cautious point of view in discussions, sometimes arguing for decisions that can be seen as cold-hearted, such as being against rescuing Haruhime or keeping Wiene in their home, not because she lacks compassion but because she wants to avoid bringing harm to her familia. Despite her straightforward and sometimes sharp-tongued manner, she speaks respectfully, addressing everyone with an honorific equivalent to master, a habit born from the discrimination she suffered. She is very financially aware due to her past struggles with money, carefully managing the familia’s finances and disliking wasteful spending. Her primary motivation is to find a place where she belongs, free from the discrimination she faced, and to protect the people who have become her true family.

Lili’s role in the story evolves from a cynical thief and supporter into the Hestia Familia’s chief strategist and treasurer. She often uses her experience to gather information or handle tasks that Bell and others cannot. She is frequently amazed at how Bell gets into trouble but continues to cooperate with him. As the story progresses, her tactical prowess gains broader recognition, and she becomes known as the Little Marshal. She receives training from Finn and, during the War Game against the Freya Familia, she commands the entire faction alliance’s movements. She is also chosen to coordinate the forces of Orario and the School District during a major operation to rescue the Loki Familia, commanding thousands of people across many floors of the Dungeon.

Her most important relationship is with Bell Cranel. Through his kindness and unwavering trust, she learns to overcome her past traumas and develops romantic feelings for him. She forms a strong friendship with the goddess Hestia, who helps nurture her self-worth. She also builds bonds with other members of the Hestia Familia, including Welf Crozzo and Yamato Mikoto, and learns under the tutelage of experienced adventurers like Daphne, Riveria, Gareth, and Finn. Her interactions with others, both adversaries and allies, continue to challenge her perspectives on trust and camaraderie.

Lili’s development is significant throughout the series. She begins as a frightened, insecure girl who relies on deception to survive and evolves into a confident and capable adventurer and commander. She learns to trust others and to accept friendship and teamwork. She originally hated adventurers and used that hatred to justify her theft, but she eventually embraces her abilities and protects her new family. Notably, the author originally planned not to let Lili rank up to represent the talentless, but after rereading the story up to volume fifteen, he decided to let her do so because it would be strange if she did not after everything she had been through. She is also revealed to be the reincarnation of the former Fianna Knights’ leader and legendary heroine Fianna.

Lili is a Level 2 supporter. She is not a strong frontline combatant due to her lack of natural talent, and she tries to avoid direct combat, but she is capable of holding her own against weaker foes when necessary. She mainly provides ranged support as a sniper with her crossbow, supplementing this with magic swords and various items such as poison bags. She has also gained basic knife skills from watching Bell closely. Her physical abilities are significantly superior to a normal person, and as a Level 2 she can jump high enough to reach the roof of a two-story house. She is a skilled marksman, capable of multiple accurate shots in rapid succession and precise sniping even with limited visibility. Her strategic and commanding abilities are her greatest strengths; she is a cunning strategist with an analytical mind and resourcefulness, able to lead large-scale operations effectively. She has enhanced senses as a Pallum, with naturally great eyesight that allows her to see in the dark, improved further by her falna. She possesses two skills: Artel Assist, which improves her ability to carry heavy loads, and Command Call, which increases the range for conveying orders in battle. Her magic, Cinder Ella, is a transformation spell that allows her to change her appearance into anything around her own size, including monsters, based on a clear mental image. The transformation undoes if she is hit and is a core part of her espionage and infiltration capabilities, allowing her to take advantage of the natural abilities of the form she assumes. She has two development abilities: Abnormal Resistance, which provides resistance to status ailments, and Mixing, which reflects her background as a thief who created items to trick adventurers.
