Description
Arisa Uotani, nicknamed Uo-chan, endured a difficult childhood marked by neglect after her mother abandoned the family and left her with an alcoholic, emotionally distant father. Seeking belonging, she joined the all-female gang “The Ladies” in fifth grade, where she idolized the legendary leader Kyoko Honda, known as “The Red Butterfly.” When Arisa learned that Kyoko’s daughter, Tohru Honda, attended her middle school, she sought her out but was initially disillusioned to find a gentle, optimistic girl instead of a fierce fighter. After Tohru rescued her from a gang beating, and Kyoko later intervened to save Arisa when she was brutally attacked for leaving the gang, Arisa resolved to reform her life. She returned to school to stay near Tohru and befriended Saki Hanajima, forming an inseparable trio. Following Kyoko’s death in a car accident, Arisa and Saki swore at her grave to protect Tohru, with Arisa adopting a brash, protective “father-figure” role. Arisa has a tough, tomboyish exterior, speaks bluntly and often uses the masculine pronoun “boku,” and frequently carries a lead pipe. Despite her fierce temper, especially toward threats like the Prince Yuki Fan Club, she is emotionally expressive and cries easily over sentimental moments. She maintains a competitive, bickering relationship with Kyo Sohma, manages her father’s alcoholism, and mentors troubled youth using her past, earning the respectful title “Ane-sama” from a trio of former delinquents. While working part-time at a convenience store, Arisa met Kureno Sohma and felt an immediate attraction despite their nine-year age difference. Kureno initially withdrew due to his obligations to Akito Sohma, but after he later left Akito, Arisa helped him relocate from the Sohma compound, and they prepared to move in together. Arisa stands 168 cm tall with blonde hair, often styled in a low ponytail with bangs covering one eye; by the series’ conclusion, she wears her hair shorter with visible bangs.
