Krylancelo formed a close bond with Azalie, viewing her as an older sister. He often assisted her during sorcery training, instinctively countering her uncontrolled magic and helping draft apology letters afterward. This established him as one of thirteen candidates for Court Sorcerer.

A pivotal incident occurred when Childman and Azalie experimented on the Sword of Baltanders. The experiment went disastrously wrong, transforming Azalie into the dragonic monster Bloody August. She fled, leaving Childman comatose. The Tower declared Azalie a threat to be eliminated, holding a funeral and declaring her dead. Krylancelo stormed the proceedings, refusing to accept her death or the Tower's decision. He abandoned the Tower, renounced his birth name, and took the name Orphen.

Orphen spent five years searching for a way to reverse Azalie's transformation before settling in Totokanta. He worked as a moneylender and loaned money to the dwarf twins Volcan and Dortin. Residing at Bagup's Inn, he taught sorcery to Bagup's son, Majic Lin, though Bagup suspected a scam. Financial troubles led Orphen to pursue the twins for repayment, culminating in a public altercation involving sorcery and police intervention.

His quest intensified when the twins involved him in a marriage fraud scheme targeting the wealthy Everlasting family. During this scheme, Bloody August attacked the Everlasting mansion seeking the Sword of Baltanders. Orphen recognized the monster as Azalie and intervened to protect her from Tower sorcerers sent to destroy her. He pleaded for her recognition, but she fled with the sword. This prompted Orphen to leave Totokanta on a journey to find Azalie again, accompanied by Majic and Cleao Everlasting, who claimed ownership of the sword.

Orphen's journey involved numerous conflicts. At Mt. Kahlna, his group encountered mechanical guardians protecting an ancient garden and later faced members of the Dragon Faith village. They learned the village priestess, Fiena, was connected to the powerful Deep Dragon entity. Orphen fell comatose after clashing with the Deep Dragon and was nearly sacrificed by villagers who harbored deep resentment for sorcerers due to their Dragon Tribe heritage. Fiena used her powers to restore him, and he later aided in resolving conflict involving Deep Dragon's offspring.

A significant development revealed Azalie had used white magic to switch bodies with Childman. She inhabited Childman's body while he remained trapped within Bloody August's monstrous form. Hartia, Orphen's former classmate, uncovered this truth and became a target, narrowly escaping death. This revelation forced Orphen to confront the consequences of Azalie's choices, shifting his focus beyond solely saving her.

Reports indicate decades later, Orphen married Cleao Everlasting and they had three daughters. He founded his own magic school, the Swedenbrory School of Sorcery, taking on the role of instructor. This period marked a shift toward stability and mentorship.

Orphen's personality blends a carefree, lazy exterior with intense focus and independence. He projects a rough, harsh demeanor, often complaining while assisting others, yet consistently shows compassion and a steadfast refusal to kill. He fiercely protects companions like Majic and Cleao and exhibits relentless resilience in pursuing goals against overwhelming opposition.

As a sorcerer, Orphen wields exceptional power and versatility. He casts a wide array of spells rapidly, adapting to any situation. His abilities allow him to cancel out magic from multiple Tower sorcerers simultaneously and momentarily contend with dragon-level entities like Bloody August and Deep Dragon.
