Description
Itsuhito Sakaki is a recurring supporting character in the romantic comedy series Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!. He is a 21-year-old third-year university student and a close friend of the male protagonist, Shinichi Sakurai, whom he calls "Saku". Sakaki first appears in the second volume of the original manga.

Sakaki is a young man with a fit, muscular build, blond hair, and blue eyes. His standard attire often consists of a sea-green dress shirt over a white v-neck, light-colored khaki pants, and a necklace with a silver ring. He is considered exceptionally handsome and is noted to be popular among his female peers on campus.

Born on June 3, Sakaki comes from a very affluent family that owns a vacation home, though he does not openly flaunt his wealth. His personality is a mix of contradictions. On the surface, he appears modest and relaxed, but he frequently makes blunt or startling comments that others would hesitate to say out loud. Due to this trait, Hana Uzaki describes his character as "good-looking but pretty terrible". While he can occasionally stir up trouble, he is also capable of acting with common sense and shows empathy in sensitive situations, such as when he discreetly helped a friend who was in an embarrassing predicament at work.

Sakaki’s primary motivation in the story is to improve his friend Sakurai’s college experience. Before meeting Uzaki, he expressed frustration that Sakurai was "wasting his youth" by focusing solely on studying, working, and staying home. After witnessing the dynamic between Sakurai and the energetic Hana Uzaki, Sakaki becomes determined to push the two of them into a romantic relationship. He finds this process engaging, likening it to exploring all the decision trees in a new video game. He often clashes philosophically with another friend, Ami Asai, who prefers to watch the pair’s relationship develop naturally without interference. Despite their arguments, they frequently end up cooperating to create situations that bring Sakurai and Uzaki closer together, such as using his family’s summer home or planning group trips.

In his role within the group, Sakaki is the instigator. He enjoys teasing Sakurai about his relationship with Uzaki and is not afraid to speak his mind directly to her, even forgetting to maintain a polite facade when he feels she is being stubborn. Despite his eagerness for his friends to find love, Sakaki himself shows little to no personal interest in romance. He is not fond of loud parties and prefers to avoid association with people who cause trouble for others. He shares a more introverted side with Sakurai, as he enjoys solo traveling and camping, sometimes taking sudden trips to places like Okinawa on a whim. He is also notably athletic and skilled at sports, though he does not join any official clubs.

Throughout the series, Sakaki undergoes subtle development, becoming more genuinely expressive. He eventually grows tired of the main pair’s indecisiveness, and after confirming that Uzaki has feelings for Sakurai, he famously exclaims, "Just do as you like. I hope you're happy," in a dismissive tone, showing he has dropped his act of polite concern. This led another character to remark that Sakaki is "becoming more straightforward". According to the author of the manga, Sakaki was created partly to ensure that Sakurai would not be perceived as a true loner with no friends.
