Ryoma stands among the eight mystical Hachibushu warriors, sworn protectors of the heavenly Tenkūkai and its ruler, Lady Vishnu, against the destructive Asura Gods. Bearing the title Ryū-ō (Dragon King), he is acknowledged as the physically strongest within their ranks. His core is defined by fierce, unwavering loyalty to his personal code of justice. This conviction drives him to unleash unrestrained combat against anyone he perceives as betraying Vishnu or Tenkūkai, including former allies and friends, fueling his initial hostility towards Shurato and Hyūga when they are falsely accused of Vishnu's petrification.
His Shakti armor and weaponry embody a draconic and serpentine (Nāga) theme, harnessing powers of heat and flame. He wields a trident, often paired with a shield. Key fiery techniques include the "Dragon King's Blazing Halberd" (Ryū-ō Kaengeki) and the "Dragon King's Explosive Flames" (Ryū-ō Bakurengeki).
Ryoma shares a profound bond with fellow Hachibushu Hyūga, forged through years of shared training and battle. Their deep familiarity allows them to intuitively grasp each other's combat strategies. This connection renders their later conflict intensely destructive when Ryoma is deceived into believing Hyūga betrayed Vishnu, embodying the lore's "Tiger Versus Dragon" dynamic rooted in their animal motifs.
Initially siding with Indra due to the false narrative against Shurato and Hyūga, Ryoma later uncovers the conspiracy and joins Shurato's faction of loyal Hachibushu, aligning with Shurato, Hyūga, and Reiga to restore Vishnu and oppose the Asura Gods.
His arc includes a significant death during the conflicts, marking him as the first major protagonist among the core group to fall, fitting the "Big Guy Fatality Syndrome" trope. Vishnu later resurrects him, enabling his return to active duty with the Hachibushu.
Following resurrection and reconciliation, Ryoma participates in crucial assaults against the primary antagonists. He joins the combined Hachibushu force storming Indra's stronghold to free Vishnu. Later, united under Vishnu's (and subsequently Shurato's) leadership, he battles the Asura Gods and their patron deity Shiva. In the climactic fight for Brahma's armor, he invades Shiva's palace alongside former adversaries turned allies, including Dan, Kuya, and Renge.
