Description
Hajime suffers severe amnesia, remembering nothing before her rescue. She typically displays apathy unless food is involved, exhibiting a near-constant focus on eating; favorites include curry, spaghetti, and hamburgers. This gluttony originated during her confinement at Facultas, triggered when Nice offered her part of his hamburger after hearing her stomach growl. Physically short and petite, she appears youngest within her group, possessing midnight black hair and red eyes (though earlier depictions showed pink-purple). Her signature attire consists of a white tank top under a sky blue jacket fading to purple with a yellow crown motif, a white fanny pack, black shorts, boots, a white visor decorated with buttons, and red gloves adorned with yellow stars.

Abandoned as a child, she became experimental subject "Success 0-1" at the Minimum Agency. Intense fear and despair during experimentation activated her innate Nihilist Minimum ability, leading to confinement in a hidden Facultas lab until Nice discovered her. He named her "Hajime" ("Start" suggested alternatively), replacing her identifier. Their escape attempt resulted in Nice being shot; this event fully activated Hajime's power for the first time and caused her re-confinement. Later, Master, recognizing the experiments' inhumanity, resigned to become her guardian alongside Koneko at Café Nowhere.

Rooted in despair, Hajime's Nihilist Minimum negates nearly anything into nothingness. Its effects encompass erasing or disrupting other Minimum abilities, reversing transformation experiments, and enabling high-speed regeneration (rapidly healing a bullet wound). The ability passively radiates, gradually weakening nearby Minimum Holders' powers over extended exposure – explaining allies like Murasaki losing abilities during prolonged proximity. Full activation generates a dark, swirling energy sphere annihilating everything within range; Hajime typically falls unconscious during these events and retains no memory afterward. Nice’s Ego Minimum can negate her power.

Despite a reserved exterior, Hajime demonstrates care for others: sharing food to comfort Nice after conflicts, or sensing Takahiro's desperation and aiding his return to human form through a shared diet and exercise regimen. She reacts strongly to comments about weight gain, showing concern about fat. Over time, particularly following Nice’s temporary absence and presumed death in Season 2, she grows more expressive and vocal, a change noted by Koneko and Master. She develops a sentimental attachment to Nice’s damaged headphones, wearing them around her neck for safekeeping until his return. Her relationship with Nice is profoundly significant; he named her, protected her during childhood, and stayed by her side despite her lost memories. Subtle romantic undertones exist, including Nice blushing at their first meeting and Hajime exclusively sharing food with him – a gesture she considers sacred. She later recalls Nice’s importance during a Facultas return, thanking him without elaboration. Additional details include her blood type (B), capability to perform over 500 sit-ups, and narrative significance as "the key of the story" possessing "a body that does not die".
