OVA
Description
Eagle is portrayed distinctly across different media. In the manga and main anime series, he serves as the commander from Autozam, a technologically advanced but severely polluted nation. He is the son of Autozam's President and battles a terminal illness. His primary goal is to capture Cephiro's Pillar System to save his homeland, while also seeking a warrior's death in battle rather than succumbing to his disease. Despite being an antagonist, he displays honor and nobility, forming a close friendship with Lantis during Lantis's stay in Autozam. His illness progresses throughout the story, though his strong will delays its effects.
In the manga, Eagle competes with Hikaru to become Cephiro's next Pillar, hoping to spare Lantis the burden and enter eternal sleep. During their confrontation, Hikaru convinces him that abandoning his loved ones is unfair. She saves him, bringing him back to Cephiro and initiating his recovery. His relationship with Hikaru evolves into romantic feelings, which he shares with Lantis, creating a complex dynamic among the three.
The anime adaptation follows a different path. Eagle still aims to secure the Pillar System for Autozam and bonds with Hikaru. However, during the final battle against Debonair, he sacrifices himself to protect the Magic Knights, resulting in his death. This outcome is suggested to simplify Hikaru's romantic storyline by leaving Lantis as the sole love interest.
The OVA presents an entirely alternate version. Here, Eagle is Princess Emeraude's brother and a native of Cephiro, with no ties to Autozam or terminal illness. He tricks Zagato into suicide to create a false balance for Cephiro, then places Emeraude in an illusion where Zagato remains alive. As the primary antagonist, he commands Zagato's Rune God and battles the Magic Knights in Tokyo. His actions aim to merge Earth and Cephiro, forcing sorcerers to fight the Knights. He is ultimately stopped when Emeraude awakens, forgives him, and they return to rebuild Cephiro together. The OVA Special Edition, *Wings of Hope*, adds new footage focusing on his hidden intentions and restructures the story into a single film.
Across all media, Eagle's core personality remains consistent. He is charming, strategic, and perceptive, able to assess situations quickly and inspire trust. Privately, he is reserved, hiding his struggles behind a calm demeanor. He possesses athletic prowess and excels in leadership, though his single-minded focus on goals can lead him to hurt others emotionally. His appearance features tall stature, short white-blond hair, and hazel or golden eyes. He wears intricate armor with a forehead device that converts mental energy into power and a laser weapon on his arm.
