Description
Ritsuka Fujimaru, a civilian lacking combat training or notable background, joined the Chaldea Security Organization after answering a recruitment flyer found at a train station. Initially selected merely to fill the Master candidate quota, their youth included befriending a solitary World War II veteran neighbor. This neighbor, harboring no resentment over his two-decade isolation, imparted the lesson that life holds value beyond grand rewards, profoundly shaping Ritsuka's perspective. They were approximately 16-17 years old during their 2015 high school sophomore year and participated on the school volleyball team.

Their physical appearance differs by gender: the male variant possesses short, unkempt dark brown hair, blue eyes, and a more visibly muscular average build; the female variant has shoulder-length red hair tied in a left-side ponytail with a yellow hairband, light orange eyes, and an average build. Command Spells manifest on their right hand, varying in design between genders. They employ numerous Mystic Codes for combat and operations, such as the Chaldea Combat Uniform, Arctic Region Chaldea Uniform, Royal Brand, and Anniversary Blonde.

Described as Neutral Good, Ritsuka's nature presents a paradox: adversaries like the Lion King label their soul as one that "knows good but commits evil, and allows evil while being good," while James Moriarty characterizes them as "good, yet not hating evil, tormented by evil, yet carrying on doing good." They exhibit high empathy and a unique capacity to bond with Servants, including dangerous or unstable individuals, respecting them despite ideological divides. Acknowledging their limited magical prowess, Ritsuka relies on Servant strength. Colleagues note their foolhardiness, willingness to aid others at significant personal risk, and unwavering perseverance through numerous singularities and lostbelts. Early displays of composure under pressure, such as remaining calm during the Fuyuki Singularity chaos, and adaptability in extreme situations were consistently observed. Mash Kyrielight regards them as an "upright human being" embodying perseverance and humility, echoed by Cú Chulainn calling them "the most human of all humans" for their relentless effort and commitment to a better future.

Their journey imposed heavy psychological burdens, including survivor's guilt after the Chaldea explosion eliminated other Master candidates, flashbacks to traumatic events like Olga Marie Animusphere's death, and nightmares exploited by entities such as the Outer Gods. In the Moonlight/Lostroom OVA, they confided in a manifestation of Olga Marie about self-doubt and the weight of being humanity's last Master. This vision foreshadowed the Lostbelt saga, depicting a desolate, frozen landscape symbolizing the erased timelines they would confront.

They demonstrated specialized abilities like provisional "Anti-Poison" resistance, theorized to stem from their contract with Mash, neutralizing filth-type threats below Noble Phantasm-level mystery. However, they remained vulnerable to high-level mental influences like Euryale's charms and dream manipulation. They survived lethal scenarios through external intervention, such as resurrection by Meltryllis and Passionlip's Noble Phantasm during the SE.RA.PH incident.

Evolving from an unprepared novice, Ritsuka became a pivotal figure commanding respect from allies and adversaries. They corrected historical distortions across singularities like Fuyuki, Babylonia, and Shimosa, restoring the Human Order. In the Lostbelt saga, their actions shifted to morally complex territory, erasing entire timelines—worlds full of innocent inhabitants. Despite this ambiguity, their resolve remained steadfast against catastrophic threats like ORT in the South American Lostbelt, persisting through repeated losses. They resisted external pressures to embrace vengeance, rejecting Edmond Dantès's proposal to become an Avenger to maintain their core ideals. Their journey concluded with the restoration of Proper Human History, and they continued serving with Chaldea to address ensuing threats.
