TV-Series
Description
Yu Ishigami holds the treasurer position on Shuchi'in Academy's student council. His family runs a small toy manufacturing business, and his mother works as a florist. He entered the prestigious academy through his father's efforts, though he initially faced academic struggles and frequently skipped classes.
During middle school, Ishigami intervened upon discovering that drama club president Ko Ogino was cheating on classmate Kyoko Ootomo. Ogino attempted to buy his silence by showing him intimate photos of Ootomo, leading Ishigami to physically assault him. Ogino framed the incident as jealous stalking, resulting in Ishigami's suspension and widespread ostracization. This isolation severely damaged his self-esteem. Student council president Miyuki Shirogane later uncovered the truth and recruited Ishigami for his data analysis skills.
Ishigami maintains a reserved, cynical demeanor and a pessimistic outlook, often expressing disdain for social norms. His sharp observational skills allow him to detect hidden insecurities in others, though this sometimes causes social mishaps. He hides interests like anime and video games, such as playing Crypto in *Apex Legends*, to avoid being labeled an otaku. Despite his gloominess, he possesses a strong sense of justice and practices covert altruism, frequently assisting others without seeking recognition, like anonymously supporting Miko Iino during her middle school bullying.
Initially depicted as socially isolated, Ishigami gradually opens up through his student council involvement. He develops a crush on cheer squad vice-captain Tsubame Koyasu, leading to an inadvertent public confession via a heart-shaped gift during the cultural festival. Though Tsubame later rejects him romantically, the experience motivates significant self-improvement, reflected in his academic rise from 197th to 8th place in his class. He forms a friendship with Maki Shijo over shared romantic struggles. After Iino becomes student council president, he accepts the role of vice president. Their dynamic evolves from mutual antagonism to implied romantic tension, with both acknowledging growing feelings.
Key relationships define his journey:
* **Miko Iino:** Their contentious history masks mutual care. Ishigami mitigates her stage fright by converting election speeches into debates and documents school events she misses due to disciplinary duties.
* **Miyuki Shirogane:** As his mentor, Shirogane provided critical support during Ishigami's suspension and fostered his integration into the council.
* **Kaguya Shinomiya:** Initially fearful of her, Ishigami earned her trust through honesty, becoming her favored junior.
* **Chika Fujiwara:** Their interactions involve comedic friction, though they share a birthday on March 3.
His long bangs symbolize a barrier against perceived social threats. He switched from briefs to boxers after embarrassment by Fujiwara. His left eye is rarely visible but appeared during the sports festival.
