Description
Yūgiri was a high-ranking courtesan (oiran) from Kyoto's Yoshiwara during the Meiji Restoration, whose exceptional beauty and skills made her unaffordable even to Tokyo's elite. A senior government official secured her freedom, leading her to Saga. Struggling to adapt to normal life in the unfamiliar city, she formed a significant bond with Kiichi Momozaki, the first to interact with her beyond her courtesan past.

She deliberately ended her life in 1882 at age 19. To protect Kiichi and his vision for Saga's independence, she assassinated the corrupt official Shojiro Ito using a sword concealed in her shamisen. Accepting responsibility for the resulting rebellion and bloodshed, she was executed by beheading. Calm until the end, she wrote a final letter to the immortal bartender Jofuku, asking him to tell Kiichi she had "left Saga safely" and to support Saga's rebuilding.

Resurrected over a century later as a zombie, Yūgiri exhibits remarkable adaptability despite the temporal disconnect, adopting a philosophy of accepting change without excessive confusion. Her calm and traditional demeanor reflects her background, though she occasionally uses a comb gifted by Kiichi for comfort during stress. She learns rapidly, rarely seeking guidance while collaborating.

Within Franchouchou, she acts as a maternal figure, showing particular warmth toward Lily. Her maturity and intelligence allow her to deduce hidden relationships, like Kotaro Tatsumi's past connection to Sakura. She employs powerful slaps to interrupt depressive episodes, notably preventing Sakura from quitting. Kotaro treats her with uncharacteristic deference, likely influenced by Jofuku.

Her skills reflect her entertainer past: acrobatics, swordsmanship, dancing, culinary arts, and shamisen proficiency. As a zombie, she possesses abilities like detachable limbs, phosphorescent vision, and elemental absorption (e.g., converting lightning into energy during performances). Her "Deadly Hand" slap can physically propel people through the air.

In *Revenge*, she works part-time as a bartender at Snack Chinatsu, serving frequent customer Police Officer A, and becomes a VTuber streaming from the bar. Flashbacks explore her past, confirming connections to historical figures Soejima Taneomi, Okuma Shigenobu, and Oki Takato. Her dialect incorporates Kyoto/Tokyo pleasure-district expressions like "arinsu."
