Description
Kurumi Tokisaki began as a normal human from wealth before her encounter with Mio Takamiya. Presenting herself as an ally of justice, Mio granted Kurumi the Sephira Crystal containing Zafkiel, transforming her into a Spirit. Using this power, Kurumi hunted other Spirits for Mio until a devastating discovery: their targets were humans forcibly bonded with Sephira Crystals. This revelation came too late during a mission, resulting in Kurumi inadvertently killing her best friend, Sawa Yamauchi. The shock nearly caused her inversion, prevented only by using her Fourth Bullet to rewind time. Mio then revealed herself as the First Spirit, explaining her plan to refine the Crystals through this process before causing Kurumi to lose consciousness.

Kurumi awoke in a crater after causing a Spacequake, her memories fragmented until she used her Tenth Bullet to recover them. Resolving to prevent all future Spirit-related calamities, she set her ultimate goal: using her Twelfth Bullet to travel back thirty years and kill the First Spirit.

Her power originates from the Angel Zafkiel, manifesting as twin flintlock pistols and a giant clock face. This grants her twelve distinct time-manipulating bullets corresponding to the hours, including Aleph (accelerating time for self or clones), Bet (slowing a target's time), Dalet (rewinding a target's time for healing), Zayin (freezing time for a target), Yud (viewing a target's past), and Yud Bet (time travel). Utilizing these powers consumes her own lifespan, or "time." To replenish it, she deploys the "City of Devouring Time," a shadowy domain draining time from humans within it. This necessity led her to kill over 10,000 people, earning her the designation "Worst Spirit" from anti-Spirit forces.

A core aspect of her power involves creating clones drawn from her past timelines. These clones share memories and ultimate goals but possess independent wills and exhibit varying personality traits reflecting Kurumi's earlier states—some show emotional vulnerability or chūnibyō tendencies she finds embarrassing. Clones can act against each other; one killed another version close to accepting Shido Itsuka's offer of redemption. They form a network for information and combat, though individually weaker than the "prime" Kurumi. When clones die or are reabsorbed, their accumulated time and experiences return to her.

Her personality blends calculated ruthlessness with a personal moral code. She adopts personas from a polite schoolgirl to a gleeful killer. While viewing humans as resources, she typically kills only those she deems morally corrupt, such as rapists or animal abusers, demonstrated when she murdered men torturing a kitten—later expressing embarrassment at being seen caring for the animal. She violently rejects being labeled "kind," reacting to Shido's insistence on saving her despite her crimes and to Phantom mocking her "gentle" goal of preventing Spacequakes. Her interactions with Shido involve persistent teasing and conditional cooperation, hinting at suppressed conflict regarding his offers of trust.

Her primary goal drives her actions: accumulating enough energy to power Yud Bet for time travel. This leads her to target Shido, whose sealed Spirit reiryoku offers sufficient power. She infiltrates his school, nearly consumes him, and later aids him selectively when goals align—rescuing Tohka Yatogami or investigating Miku's past—often to access information or individuals like the Second Spirit. She assists Origami Tobiichi's journey five years into the past to kill the Spirit responsible for her parents' deaths, using Origami as a test subject for Yud Bet. She later sends Shido back to the same event with her Ninth Bullet to prevent Origami's inversion, actions serving both her mission and exploration of time manipulation's consequences.

In spin-off events, a Kurumi clone entered the Neighboring World, a dimension for deceased Spirits and Quasi-Spirits. There, she participated in a battle royale orchestrated by the White Queen for a wish-granting opportunity. Kurumi allied with Hibiki Higoromo, discovering Hibiki's identity was stolen and she was transformed into a cat. The White Queen was revealed as a fusion of Sawa Yamauchi's consciousness and another Kurumi clone, driven by resentment and a desire for revenge. After a confrontation, Kurumi defeated the White Queen, leading to reconciliation before Sawa's consciousness faded. Hibiki was restored, and Kurumi vowed to return to the real world.

Following this experience, she adopted a more cooperative stance. She later attended Saito University and established the Tokisaki Detective Agency, signaling a shift toward integrating into human society while continuing her altered pursuit of the First Spirit.
