Description
Wapol, former tyrannical king of Drum Island, hoarded medical resources exclusively for his private circle of twenty doctors. When the Blackbeard Pirates invaded, he fled with these physicians, abandoning his people to vulnerability. Exiled and vengeful, he plotted to retake Drum Island through violent schemes—triggering avalanches and deploying poisonous spores to eliminate resistance.
His exiled older brother, Musshuru, once banished for weaponizing Spore-Spore Fruit powers against citizens, aided Wapol temporarily. Betraying Musshuru, Wapol consumed him using his Baku Baku no Mi ability, merging their powers to forge a cannon-fused hybrid form designed to devastate the island.
Historically, Wapol suppressed dissent through petty violence and dismissed debates on global leadership during the Levely, prioritizing self-interest over governance. His rule exploited subordinates and neglected public welfare. While earlier portrayals emphasized his comical egomania, later adaptations depict him as strategically cruel, focusing on methodical tyranny over whimsy.
The Straw Hat Pirates disrupted his final assault, combining Gear Second and Third techniques to defeat him. Post-conflict, Dalton’s reforms eclipsed Wapol’s legacy on Drum Island. A 2014 special edition reinterpreted these events as Chopper’s dream, yet maintained Wapol’s defining traits: greed, opportunism, and ruthless ambition.
