TV-Series
Description
Appearing thirty years after the original series, Whisper now serves Lord Enma alongside Zazel in the Yo-kai World. This iteration, occasionally called "Whisper 2040," sports a dramatically altered appearance: a pale, ghost-like form with wispy purple hair, a skull-like hollow nose, dark green eyes featuring yellow pupils, pointy ears, and fully defined hands ending in long, sharp nails. While the thick black line between his eyes and blue lips are gone, he retains his signature grin. His attire—a black suit fading into his ghostly tail, white undershirt, and pink bowtie—creates a more refined look than his past self.

Tasked by Enma in "Yo-kai Watch Shadowside: The Return of the Oni King," Whisper delivers the Yo-kai Watch Arcane to its chosen user, Natsume Amano, to counter the Onimaro threat. He guides her in using the watch and provides Jibanyan's keystone, continuing his role as a mentor. Throughout the Shadowside anime, he acts as Natsume's primary Yo-kai butler and advisor, though with less screen time than before. He maintains a playful rapport with companions like Junior and Micchy, sharing humorous exchanges, dad jokes, and muscle-flexing routines with Sly.

Personality-wise, Shadowside Whisper demonstrates greater maturity while retaining echoes of his original self. He remains loyal and dedicated to his duties, exhibiting less overt narcissism. His reliance on the Yo-kai Pad for information persists, revealing his self-proclaimed expertise still requires technological support. Despite his evolved role, he displays occasional whimsy, such as offering Natsume a cucumber or kiwi when she requests Kyubi’s Keystone. He notably describes Natsume's brother Tate as "familiar," hinting at residual memories of Nate Adams without explicitly acknowledging their past connection.

Whisper is over 450 years old during the Shadowside era, having existed since at least the Sengoku period (1467–1603). Junior humorously notes his age, commenting he "smells like an old man." He stands as the only Yo-kai in Shadowside whose core personality remains largely unchanged from the original series, avoiding the drastic alterations seen in others. While he maintains contact with Jibanyan and recalls their shared history, his relationship with Nate remains unexplored in confirmed narratives.
