Description
Iskahn is a supporting character who appears in the second half of the Alicization arc, specifically during the War of the Underworld. He holds the title of the Tenth Champion, serving as the leader of the Pugilist Guild, and is also a member of the Ten Lords Assembly, the governing body of the Dark Territory.

Physically, Iskahn is a young man with a well-built physique, reddish-copper tanned skin, and distinctive curly red hair. His attire as a Pugilist is minimal, consisting of skin-tight leather trousers, sandals, a single leather belt across his torso, and metal-studded gloves. He wears no armor or carries weapons, as his body has been honed through intense training to be his primary tool of combat.

At the start of the war, Iskahn’s personality is defined by a singular focus on physical strength. He is largely uninterested in anything that does not pertain to the conditioning and power of his own body, looking down on those who rely on armor for protection or who lack visible musculature. However, this is not born of simple cruelty but from a deep-seated respect for true warriors. He holds fighters who train their bodies and display fighting spirit in high regard, and he becomes excited by the prospect of battling such opponents. He cares a great deal for the pride of his guild and believes that a true warrior’s death should be honorable, in the heat of battle, not a wasteful or meaningless one.

Iskahn’s motivations evolve significantly over the course of the conflict. While he initially follows the orders of the Dark Emperor, Vector, his loyalty is tested when he sees his fellow Pugilists sent on what he perceives as a suicide mission. The Emperor’s apathetic disregard for the lives of his own soldiers disgusts Iskahn, who holds a strong belief that a ruler has a fundamental duty to care for and take responsibility for their subjects. This moral conflict pushes him to a desperate act: he destroys his own right eye. This action is not merely one of self-mutilation but a strategic rebellion, as the Seal of the Right Eye is a system that restricts inhabitants of the Underworld from disobeying absolute laws. By destroying the eye, Iskahn lessens its hold over him, creating a loophole that allows him to indirectly defy the Emperor's orders.

His role in the story shifts from that of a straightforward antagonist to a crucial ally. During the battle, his Pugilist unit is ordered to pursue a decoy force from the Human Empire. It is here that he encounters Scheta Synthesis Twelve, an Integrity Knight. He engages her in a duel and, for the first time, meets a warrior who sparks his intense interest. Later, when a massive army of American players invades the battlefield, Vector callously leaves Iskahn and his people to be slaughtered. In response, Iskahn uses the loophole created by destroying his eye to form an alliance with the very Human Empire soldiers he was sent to destroy. This alliance marks a turning point in the war, as his forces join the humans to repel the common threat.

The most significant relationship Iskahn develops is with Scheta Synthesis Twelve. Initially, he holds her in contempt due to her slight frame and use of a sword, but their duel transforms into mutual respect. His interest in her grows from a purely combative admiration into a deep personal connection. This relationship is key to solidifying the alliance between the Dark Territory forces and the Human Empire, and it continues to develop after the war. His other key relationship is with his own guild members, for whom he feels a profound sense of responsibility, and with Emperor Vector, whose tyranny he ultimately rejects.

Throughout the story, Iskahn undergoes a significant transformation. He begins as a warrior who cares only for his own strength and the pride of his guild but evolves into a leader who values the lives of his people above blind obedience. His decision to defy the god-like Emperor Vector is an act of profound free will, demonstrating his growth from a simple fighter into a principled commander. By the end of the war, he is one of the few surviving Dark Territory lords and is appointed the Supreme Commander of the Dark Territory Army, a role in which he forges a peace treaty with the Human Empire. He eventually marries Scheta and they have a daughter named Lisetta, becoming a doting father.

Iskahn’s abilities are a direct result of his Pugilist training, which began at the age of five. The Pugilist discipline uses the power of Incarnation, where absolute confidence in one’s own body allows it to become as hard as steel. Through this, Iskahn’s skin is so tough that it can withstand slashes from large blades, and it is even said that his eyeballs could endure a strike from a two-centimeter-wide blade. As the Tenth Champion, his body is the toughest among all Pugilists. He is also a master of hand-to-hand combat, able to match the skills of both the Integrity Knight Scheta and Kirito in battle. In combat, his fists are his only weapons, and he wields them with devastating power, capable of shattering armor.
