Description
Kenji Natsume, called “Tobi,” is a first-year small forward for Kuzuryū High’s basketball team, occasionally shifting to shooting guard. Standing 5’10”, he sports textured black hair styled in box braids, bantu knots, or cornrows, with sharp black eyes and a “greased lightning” tattoo on his right arm, concealed during games by a black sleeve. He dons jersey number 11 and Nike Air Jordan 13 sneakers.

Raised in Hiroshima Prefecture, Kenji’s childhood fractured after his parents’ divorce, triggered by his mother’s infidelity. His construction worker father raised him alone until a devastating work accident claimed his life, leaving Kenji a basketball as his sole inheritance. Resentment festered when his mother remarried, fueling clashes until he relocated to Kanagawa Prefecture to live with his aunt. He shares an unshakable bond with his younger sister, Juri, vowing to compete in the Inter-High Tournament for her.

Once arrogant and isolated, Kenji’s raw talent bred contempt for teamwork and authority, nearly costing him his place at Kuzuryū. A humbled apology secured his spot on the team, where he began mentoring peers like rival Yasuhara, shedding his solitary tendencies. Driven by rivalry with athletes like Fuwa, he channeled self-doubt into refining his adaptability and mental resilience.

A left-handed scorer, Kenji combines double-clutch layups with agility and defensive tenacity, thriving in dual roles. Coaches rank his physicality and stamina among the team’s highest, observing his capacity to convert stress into hyper-focused energy—"the Zone." A knee injury during the Monster Bash Tournament sidelined him for rehab under Jonan University’s Karasawa and Watase, leaving lingering discomfort despite recovery.

His evolution from solitary prodigy to team catalyst stems from a pledge to honor his father’s memory and Juri’s hopes. Family strife, injury, and rivalry forged his resolve, steering him toward unifying his team’s ambitions with his own relentless drive.
