TV-Series
Description
Sacha Ketchum, a Pokémon Trainer hailing from Pallet Town, began a new journey in the Unova region. He sported a redesigned outfit: a red-and-white hat featuring a blue Poké Ball design, a blue-and-white hooded jacket with a golden zipper, black baggy jeans, black fingerless gloves edged in red, and red high-top sneakers. This look was distinguished by his visible eye pupils and slightly smaller lightning bolt-like facial markings.
Arriving in Unova, Sacha displayed heightened enthusiasm but encountered significant challenges adapting to unfamiliar Pokémon and environments without his longtime companion Brock. Setbacks included Pikachu temporarily losing its Electric-type moves after an encounter with the Legendary Pokémon Zekrom, leading to a loss against rival Trip's Snivy. Despite these obstacles, Sacha maintained his spirited demeanor, offering advice to others and demonstrating patience while retaining his core traits and love for Pokémon. With support from new friends and Pokémon, he gradually overcame early difficulties to become a more resilient Trainer.
His Unova team comprised Pidove (which evolved into Unfezant), Oshawott, Tepig (which evolved into Pignite), Snivy, Scraggy, Sewaddle (which evolved into Leavanny), Palpitoad, Roggenrola (which evolved into Boldore), and Krokorok (which evolved into Krookodile). Sacha rotated these Pokémon with Professor Juniper, later transferring them to Professor Oak. Key bonds formed included Unfezant, his first Unova capture, on whom he relied during battles and Team Rocket confrontations. Oshawott joined after saving Pikachu and Axew, though its habit of exiting its Poké Ball uninvited occasionally caused friction. Snivy required a prolonged capture effort due to its use of the move Attract.
Sacha traveled with Iris, an aspiring Dragon Master, and Cilan, a Pokémon Connoisseur and Striaton City Gym Leader. He met Iris after mistakenly assuming her Axew was a wild Pokémon. Though initially annoyed by her presence, they developed mutual respect; Iris often teased him as a "kid" while acknowledging his dedication. Cilan joined after Sacha's Gym victory in Striaton City, contributing culinary skills and battle advice. The trio shared spirited disagreements balanced by deep camaraderie, with Cilan frequently mediating between Sacha and Iris.
His rivals included Trip, a Trainer who initially dismissed him as inexperienced but later acknowledged his strength after losing to him in the Unova League; Bianca, a friendly rival whom Sacha supported against her father's objections; Stephan, who shared mutual respect and training sessions; Cameron, who defeated Sacha in the League quarter-finals; and Virgil, a rescuer with a team of Eeveelutions.
During the Unova League, Sacha achieved his highest rank at the time by reaching the quarter-finals. His climactic battle against Trip showcased strategic growth, culminating in Pikachu defeating Trip's Serperior. However, he lost to Cameron when the latter's Riolu evolved into Lucario mid-battle, eliminating Sacha from the tournament.
Post-League, Sacha investigated the White Ruins related to Reshiram. There, he befriended N, a mysterious figure advocating for Pokémon liberation. This led to confrontations with Team Plasma, who employed a mind-control device on Pokémon, including Pikachu. Sacha resisted Team Plasma's influence through his bond with Pikachu, ultimately destroying the device with Reshiram's aid.
Following these events, Sacha, Iris, and Cilan journeyed through the Decolore Islands before returning to Kanto. After farewells to Iris and Cilan, Sacha departed for the Kalos region with journalist Alexa, concluding his Unova adventure.
