TV-Series
Description
Miaouss began as a stray Meowth abandoned in Hollywood, scavenging to survive and facing violence. He joined a Persian-led street gang, living as an alley cat. His life shifted upon meeting Meowzie, a female Meowth he loved. To win her affection, he painstakingly mastered human speech—developing a distinct New York accent—and walking upright. This effort backfired when Meowzie rejected him as a freak, causing heartbreak. He then joined Team Rocket partly because "Rocket" was the first human word he understood.

Initially serving Giovanni directly within Team Rocket, Miaouss aspired to be his "top cat" but was replaced by a Persian due to perceived incompetence, fueling jealousy and a persistent desire to regain Giovanni's favor. Later assigned to Jessie and James, they formed a trio focused on stealing powerful Pokémon, especially Ash's Pikachu, to impress Giovanni. Despite frequent bickering and Miaouss often asserting leadership due to technical skills, they developed deep loyalty and friendship, enduring repeated failures across regions.

Miaouss possesses the unique ability to communicate directly with humans, rare for non-Legendary Pokémon. However, this skill diminished his combat proficiency, leaving him unable to use moves like Pay Day and generally weak in battle. He compensates through technical ingenuity, designing and building most of Team Rocket's gadgets, vehicles, and mechas. His personality blends cunning, pride, and greed with occasional philosophical introspection, often lamenting life choices while gazing at the moon. He exhibits strong loyalty to Jessie and James, rarely letting conflicts permanently fracture their bond, and shows unexpected empathy toward abandoned or mistreated Pokémon, reflecting his past.

Romantic pursuits are a recurring trait, marked by attractions to cat-like Pokémon including May's Skitty, a Sinnoh Glameow, and a male Purrloin he initially believed was female. These infatuations sometimes complicate Team Rocket's schemes. Miaouss also maintains a fierce rivalry with other Meowth, especially an Alolan variant working for Team Rocket's Matori Matrix, whom he views as a cunning competitor.

In *Pokémon Journeys: The Series*, Miaouss continues with Team Rocket, utilizing the Rocket Prize Master—a capsule machine dispensing random Pokémon for missions. His technical role remains central. A significant arc involves the trio briefly disbanding after a failed attempt to capture Pikachu, leading Miaouss to separate from Jessie and James. They later reunited, reaffirming their commitment and perpetual pursuit of Pikachu. Miaouss also temporarily accessed Gigantamax capabilities in Galar, growing immense during a confrontation, though this did not alter his core role.

Throughout all media, Miaouss remains a wild Pokémon, refusing capture despite near-misses with Luxury Balls. His function as a translator for both Team Rocket and occasionally Ash's group persists, bridging communication. His enduring ambition to become Giovanni's "top cat" and his complex bond with Jessie and James define his character across seasons, films, and spin-offs.
