Description
Miaouss operates as a recurring member of Team Rocket alongside Jessie and James. In "Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us," he participates in a Team Rocket scheme during Fula City's wind festival, stealing a bottle of Effect Spore from a research lab. This theft accidentally spills the substance into a nearby forest, triggering a crisis of poisonous spores and a forest fire that endangers the city. Miaouss later helps resolve this crisis by aiding in the creation of an antidote using Lum Berries.

Originally a stray Pokémon abandoned as a kitten on Hollywood's streets, Miaouss survived by joining a gang of Meowth led by a Persian and stealing food. He fell in love with a female Meowth named Meowzie, who rejected him for lacking human-like qualities and wealth. To impress her, he taught himself to walk upright and speak human language, sacrificing his ability to learn Pay Day. After Meowzie called him a "freak," a heartbroken Miaouss joined Team Rocket, recalling "Rocket" as the first human word he learned. He harbors lingering resentment toward Persian for replacing him as Giovanni's favored Pokémon.

Within Team Rocket, Miaouss acts as the trio's primary strategist and inventor, designing machines and contraptions for their schemes. His unique ability among non-Legendary Pokémon to understand and translate Pokémon speech facilitates communication between humans and other Pokémon. Despite loyalty to Jessie and James, he often views himself as their superior due to his technical skills. His personality blends cunning, greed, and occasional introspection, with moments of compassion toward abandoned or mistreated Pokémon. He maintains a long-standing rivalry with Ash's Pikachu but has allied with it against mutual threats.

Beyond the film, Miaouss appears across multiple Pokémon media. In the main anime series, he persists as an antagonist focused on capturing Pikachu. His video game appearances include battles against the player in "Pokémon Yellow" and "Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu!/Eevee!," and he features as a non-playable character in titles like "Pokémon Channel." In the "Super Smash Bros." series, he appears as a summonable Poké Ball character attacking opponents with coins. A CD drama expands Team Rocket lore, revealing Miaouss's interactions with agents like Mondo, a grunt supplying the trio with gadgets.
