Description
Natsuki Shinomiya stands as a tall, blond-haired figure with light green eyes, his oval-lens glasses a permanent fixture until removed—an action that unleashes his alter ego Satsuki, marked by volatile aggression and heightened strength. This "Gemini syndrome," rooted in childhood trauma when a teacher he idolized plagiarized his composition, fractured his psyche into protective then destabilizing halves before eventual reconciliation.

Raised in France until age five before relocating to Hokkaido, he developed a competitive violin career alongside childhood friend Syo Kurusu, until a forgotten incident—Syo’s fall from a tower during a chase—left Syo with acrophobia. Hypnosis later unearthed Natsuki’s buried guilt. Post-plagiarism betrayal, he abandoned the violin for the viola in pursuit of a new musical identity, ultimately quitting performance due to unresolved emotional strife.

His gentle, air-headed nature masks an intense fixation on small, adorable objects, driving him to impulsively hug peers or liken protagonist Haruka Nanami to his dog Elizabeth while forcing whimsical costumes on others. Unaware of his culinary ineptitude, he concocts meals laced with fermented squid and chili sauce, unwittingly subjecting others to physical distress.

Musical genius emerges through spontaneous compositions later revealed as Satsuki’s influence. Initially oblivious to this duality, Natsuki gradually accepts Satsuki’s role, achieving wholeness through Haruka’s encouragement to embrace music’s joy and collaborative performances with Syo that mend their fractured bond.

Glasses symbolize psychological barriers, their removal sparking both conflict and breakthroughs—rooftop clashes where Satsuki’s aggression emerges, paving the way for mutual understanding between identities. Inherited physical prowess from his farmer father and rural upbringing contrast with European-tinged quirks like cheek-kissing greetings, often misread in Japan.

His arc traces reconciliation with trauma through integrated selfhood and reignited musical passion via communal ties, evolving from a fragmented soul into a cohesive artist. Relationships underscore loyalty and naive clashes between instinctive creativity and structured collaboration, framing resilience and connection as pillars of his transformation.
