TV-Series
Description
Karim Fulham serves as a lieutenant and a company commander within the Special Fire Force Company 1, while also holding the position of a priest in the Holy Sol Temple. He is a young man of 22 years, born on December 12, standing 178.5 centimeters tall.

In terms of appearance, Karim has short, straight dark grey hair brushed forward, with the sides of his head shaved to reveal darker hair underneath. His small, dark eyes often carry a lazy or perpetually irritated expression. Instead of the standard bunker gear worn by most firefighters, he dresses in a dark cassock topped with a light overcoat that has a high collar and a skirt-like lower garment, completed with dark shoes and a pendant bearing a cross-like symbol. He is frequently seen wearing headphones and carries musical instruments into combat situations.

Karim possesses a serious, cautious, and brash demeanor. He typically exhibits immediate distrust toward those he does not know and has little hesitation in voicing insults. He becomes annoyed quickly, even with his own comrades, and disapproves of any playfulness during combat situations. A distinctive feature of his speech is a habit of repeating words or phrases with the same meaning within a single sentence, which can make his communication somewhat difficult to follow. Despite his rough exterior, he strictly adheres to the protocols of Company 1 and demonstrates deep respect for his colleagues. He values loyalty and friendship intensely but prioritizes his strong sense of justice over personal bonds, showing a willingness to confront even his friends if necessary. He also possesses strong leadership skills and can formulate effective tactical plans under pressure.

Karim is a Second Generation pyrokinetic, meaning he cannot create fire from nothing but can manipulate existing flames and heat. His specific ability is called thermoacoustic refrigeration. This process allows him to collect heat energy from an external source, convert that heat into sound within a specialized instrument, and then cycle the energy repeatedly to drastically lower the temperature, ultimately forming ice. His musical instruments, such as a trumpet or a bell, act as conduits that significantly amplify this effect, a mechanism he himself has compared to how air conditioning functions. This ability grants him precise control, enabling him to create air pockets within ice for trapped individuals to breathe and to rapidly freeze large-scale threats. Though often mistaken for simple cryokinesis, his power is fundamentally an advanced application of pyrokinesis and heat manipulation.

In the story, Karim plays a significant role during the confrontation between Company 5 and Company 8 and later while leading a mission in the Shinjuku District. He, along with his close friends and fellow commanders Rekka Hoshimiya and Foien Li, was involved in uncovering the truth behind artificially created Infernals. When the rookie firefighter Shinra Kusakabe discovers evidence of foul play, Karim confirms that his own friend Rekka is the true culprit using insects to forcibly turn people into Infernals. Stating that Company 1 has the responsibility to handle the situation, Karim tracks down Rekka. He immobilizes his former friend in ice to prevent further violence, but before justice can be served, an assassin from a mysterious white-clad organization kills Rekka. Foien sacrifices his forearm to save Karim from a subsequent attack.

This event serves as the primary catalyst for Karim's development. Following Rekka's betrayal and death, he experiences profound guilt and self-loathing, believing he failed their friendship and inadvertently contributed to Rekka's downfall. This personal tragedy fuels his relentless determination to investigate the truth behind the Evangelist and the organization responsible. It also prompts him to set aside his distrust of outsiders and form a cooperative working relationship with Company 8, sharing sensitive intelligence and assisting in their ongoing investigation. He remains a serious and capable leader, but the weight of his friend's death adds a layer of personal motivation to his pursuit of justice.
