Takumi Aldini, fraternal elder twin to Isami, was born in Florence, Italy to Japanese-Italian parents. He grew up working in the family's Trattoria Aldini, starting to cook at age five under his father's tutelage. Demonstrating notable talent early, patrons often requested Takumi over Isami, yet he consistently supported his brother, emphasizing their partnership. Before their father departed for Japan, he gifted each twin a bottle of Aldini olive oil as a protective memento.
Takumi enrolled in Tōtsuki Culinary Academy's middle school alongside Isami, later advancing to its high school as part of the 92nd Generation. Sōma Yukihira's declaration to reach Tōtsuki's summit during orientation ignited Takumi's intense, initially one-sided rivalry. Takumi perceived Sōma as a threat to his pride as a professional chef from a family restaurant, leading him to frequently challenge Sōma.
Physically, Takumi has short blonde hair with a distinctive fringe parted to both sides and a central bang, bluish-green eyes, and stands 168 cm tall. His handsomeness attracts a fan club at Tōtsuki. He wears the standard seasonal school uniform and a customized chef's jacket bearing "Trattoria Aldini" on the sleeve. Outside school, he dresses fashionably, viewing attire as an expression of self-respect.
His personality blends fiery competitiveness with deep loyalty. Hot-blooded and easily flustered, particularly when his dramatic challenges to Sōma are ignored, he harbors intense grudges against those who wrong him or insult Isami. This is exemplified by his vendetta against Etsuya Eizan for rigging his Autumn Election match. Takumi's protectiveness of Isami is central; he accepted Subaru Mimasaka's Shokugeki to defend Isami's honor. Mimasaka mimicked and improved Takumi's semifreddo, winning his prized mezzaluna knife in a crushing defeat that plunged Takumi into depression, though he later vowed to surpass Mimasaka through rigorous self-improvement.
Culinarily, Takumi specializes in Italian cuisine but adapts techniques across styles, using ingredients like uruka for fusion dishes. His signature tool is the mezzaluna, a dual-handled mincing knife he wields with exceptional speed. During the Training Camp's first day, he grilled Aigamo duck with an improvised Japanese-style salsa verde, earning praise for its depth of flavor. He later challenged Sōma to a breakfast duel, aiming to showcase superiority with Italian-inspired egg dishes.
Takumi's development involves learning from defeats. Studying Mimasaka's "tracing" method, he applied analytical tactics against Eizan in the Régiment de Cuisine. Anticipating Eizan's sabotage using artichoke-derived cynarine, he tailored his pizza to enhance rather than suffer from altered taste buds, securing a victory that avenged the Autumn Election manipulation and solidified his growth into a tactician. He later collaborated with Sōma during BLUE against Don Calma, wielding the mezzaluna together in a display of mutual respect that transformed their rivalry into camaraderie.
Post-Régiment de Cuisine, Takumi attained the Elite Ten Council's 7th seat. At BLUE, Erina Nakiri rejected his dish, discarding it as "garbage," shocking him. His journey concludes with ongoing efforts to refine his cooking alongside Isami, upholding their dream to elevate Trattoria Aldini globally.
